Re: Torklift battery box initial review
I installed mine late last week after returning from an 850 mile excursion with my 1985. I agree with your review 100%, including the part that "I'm very happy with it". I like it because everything goes into the box and there is plenty of room, and it only needs one function to unlock it versus undoing the box straps. I purchased the box designed for two six volt batteries even though I'm running two group 24's. I also replaced the locks (plural because I also own the propane lock system,...

I have the 1100 model, but I think they calling it the Petite now, for whatever reason! Eva Dry Petite (1100) I ran it at home in the bathroom as soon as I got it and I was pleasantly surprised that the darn thing actually does work! Good review! WoodGlue

Re: Garmin nuvi 2797LMT
Thanks, Mike, for the excellent review. I've been considering one of these but have been unable to get an answer to a question I have. Hopefully you can help me. When traveling in unfamiliar territory, I like to have the map showing. No destination is entered, just like to see where we are on the map as we move along. Additionally, the map must have a scale on the screen. Does the Nuvi 2797 provide this? Thanks, Bruce

Re: Garmin nuvi 2797LMT
Bruce, The map can be selected even when there is no destination entered. As for a scale not sure what you are looking for exactly, you may want to check the Garmin Forum at http://forums.gpsreview.net/ca...um-garmin-nuvi-forum Mike Originally Posted by Bruce H.: Thanks, Mike, for the excellent review. Re: Garmin nuvi 2797LMT
Mike, good review. Another nice feature of the newer Garmins is the improved satellite reception. I prefer to mount my GPS on the console between the two front seats, instead of the dash or windshield. The newer Garmins work well when located away from the windshield. With my old Garmin mounted on the console, I had to use an external antenna mounted on the dash, in order to receive the satellite signals.

Re: Garmin nuvi 2797LMT
After three months with the Garmin 2797 I thought a posting of an updated review would be helpful. I did receive a replacement from Garmin back in December which has been functioning correctly with the correct time. We have been using it extensively for the last three months and am very satisfied with the choice of the 2797LMT. Some of the major features we like with this unit are: School zone notification Traffic reroute Smartphone link Active lane guidance Voice activation Map selection...

Re: Honda EU2000i Generator Review
Got my own Honda EU2000i generator today and my No Spill gas can and all the misc doodads,, It took abut 10 pulls on the first times to start the thing, but as of far, it's a great, super quiet genny, I put a magnetic dipstick in there to catch shavings, which are going to happen. I also installed a Hardline Tach/Hour meter, which was a lot easier on the Honda than the Smarter Tools Genny I had. Gassed up a with a little Sta-bil gas protectant, also put in 10/w 30 synthetic oil and will...

Sounds like you have a good one. I know it isn't the least expensive but it is hard to argue with the quality and reliability of the Honda. It should give you many years of service. Linn & Sun

Re: Honda EU2000i Generator Review
I recently sold another type of small motor Honda that has been beat on, neglected, and abused in harsh environments for over 30 years! (Only about 10 years by me) I think I changed the oil 3 or 4 times in that 10 years. Bike didn't cost me much, and I just wanted to ride. Found out when I was selling it that I had cracked the frame (1985 Suspension technology ain't what it is today) but that motor simply will... not... die. Yeah, I think you'll get your money's worth out of your Honda.

Re: Honda EU2000i Generator Review
Recently purchased a Hutch Mountain propane conversion kit for one of our two Honda gens. Anxious to install and gauge performance. Used one of two gens during a trip to Grand Canyon this past summer. Camping at higher elevations we found we did not need the 2nd gen since no A/C was necessary. We also use our gens as backup power for our home. We can run critical home circuits on one gen. Being able to tap into our 400 gallon propane heating supply makes this very handy for extended power...

Re: Dometic LP GasChecker (LPGC10)
I have the Truma as well as the Dometic (the Dometic was a gift) I never have an empty tank to test them on, so I let my propane run the fridge after the Pismo Rally in hopes that I can get a reading with the Truma and the Dometic... I'll post back here with a review of the Truma unit after I test it. Thanks Jeff for the heads up on the "C" grade. WoodGlue

Re: VIAIR 400P Automatic Function Portable Compressor
Excellent review and photos. I was hoping you'd post a photo with something like a hand next to the unit for size reference but your photo where you stuffed it into the back seat cubby did fine. I agree about coiled air hoses in this type of application. They are stiff and quite often become a nuisance when they catch on things like a tire as you pull the air chuck around to where it's needed. Those inflate times were great but would be even more meaningful if you also included the tire...

Advanced Elements Lagoon 2 inflatable recreational tandem kayak
We've hemmed and hawed for 7 years or so on getting a kayak. Hard shell? Sit-on-top? Inflatable? Transporting? Solo or tandem? ?? We've rented at least 20 kayaks over the years and still couldn't make up our minds. In fact GRUMPA, BMJ, myself, and a few others have gone around and around about the subject here on LOA for 4 or 5 years. GRUMPA & BMJ both bought inflatables - Sea Eagle's (sweet kayaks!) - while we kept languishing over the choices and our needs. Well, we finally decided to...

Torklift International PowerArmor Solar – product and installation review
A short while back someone asked what mods we would be looking to make in 2016. I mentioned I would like to make secure my two 12v Interstate batteries that are sitting on the tongue of our 1575. Shortly afterwards I was contacted by Kerstin at Torklift International who asked if I would like to evaluate one of their PowerArmor products for free. Of course I was more than happy to do so. I know that Plance has already documented a similar install but wanted to share my experience. Hopefully...

Chemical Guys - TORQ Foam Cannon & Honeydew Snow Foam Wash
How It Works: Professional detailers and hardcore enthusiasts wash dirt from cars as gently as possible. The wrong touch pushes dirt around and grinds ugly scratches and swirls into the shiny finish. The TORQ Professional Foam Cannon Snow Foamer adds a blanket of super-slick and slippery car wash suds to lubricate any abrasive dirt particles. Prepare the TORQ Foam Cannon by filling the soap solution tank with water, then add 1-3 ounces of your favorite Chemical Guys car wash soap. Gently...

Re: Nature's Head Composting Toilet
Now that I've had the unit in use for a full year perhaps I can finish my review. The Nature's Head works by separating liquids and solids. The liquids are very high in nitrogen. You can pour them into any toilet. (Or around trees.) The solids are dried. As they dry, the bacteria die off. All that is left is fiber. The solids can go into the landfill. Mine looked so innocuous that I used them as a soil amendment for a tree I was planting. The head is very easy to use and maintain. Due to the...

Thanks Erick! The trip is in 10 days. I will definitely be giving these a solid test & a thorough review. All - Erick is referring above to springs that don't have factory stops (& holes) on the ends of the springs. Torklift has a kit for that. However, it sounds like drilling the holes isn't as quick and easy as Torklift makes it sound. Re: Folding Bikes
I bought a Dahon Vigor P9 a year ago and thought it was about time for a review. It's light weight (for a folding bike) at 25 lbs and has 9 gears with a good range. At $800 it is priced halfway between a cheap Camping World bike and a high end Bike Friday. Bike Friday does offer an $850 model, but it is considered a travel bike as opposed to a commuter bike; the difference being a travel bike folds to smaller dimensions but takes longer to fold and may require tools, whereas a commuter takes...
