In looking for an easy-to-store ladder (primarily to get to the slide roof to clean as may be necessary), I ran across this Cosco SmartClose 14' Type IA Aluminum Telescopic Ladder

It is not 14', of course.  It extends to 10 1/2 feet but the theory is a normal person can climb up high enough to reach 14'.  More important to me is that it collapses to 31" h X 19 3/4" wide X 3 3/8" deep.  Actual weight 22 1/2 lbs.  Load capacity is 300 lbs.  Currently on closeout at some Menard's locations.

I really had very low expectations for this, but am pleased so far.  It is quite stable, probably less wobbly than my regular extension ladders.  Easy to extend and VERY easy to collapse.  Contrary to many reviews, you can extend it to intermediate heights.

The big attraction to me is the easy storage in our 1985:

The above is the long space in the slide out.  However, it almost seems made for the large storage space on the port side rear - in front of the water heater:

I will add a strap to the wall and it should ride just fine.

Those collapsible extension ladders are really useful.  I'm going to be picking up one to not only use with my TC and 5th wheel, but also around my home.  Most of my other ladders that I have are getting a bit burdensome and heavy for me to lug around.  I swear just about everything I own really need to consider going on a diet.

I have one and use it often. It fits in the side compartment (as you pictured) The only caution is to be careful when collapsing it. I wasn't careful and got my thumb in-between rungs when it came down and lost the nail. Hurt like heck.

I don't regret not having a ladder installed when the trailer was built. This works just fine and gives flexibility.

We have one of these and have used it frequently for probably 5 years. It works great and can be adjusted to as many heights as there are ladder rungs. The rubber feet disintegrated twice, once replaced free by the manufacturer.  I ended up cutting a couple of pieces of 2 x 4 to fit into the bottom tubes after the 2nd time. The wooden feet work fine. Make sure the latches are fully engaged with extending the ladder by opening rapidly and be careful to avid pinched fingers when collapsing. Very useful ladder.
