In looking for an easy-to-store ladder (primarily to get to the slide roof to clean as may be necessary), I ran across this Cosco SmartClose 14' Type IA Aluminum Telescopic Ladder
It is not 14', of course. It extends to 10 1/2 feet but the theory is a normal person can climb up high enough to reach 14'. More important to me is that it collapses to 31" h X 19 3/4" wide X 3 3/8" deep. Actual weight 22 1/2 lbs. Load capacity is 300 lbs. Currently on closeout at some Menard's locations.
I really had very low expectations for this, but am pleased so far. It is quite stable, probably less wobbly than my regular extension ladders. Easy to extend and VERY easy to collapse. Contrary to many reviews, you can extend it to intermediate heights.
The big attraction to me is the easy storage in our 1985:
The above is the long space in the slide out. However, it almost seems made for the large storage space on the port side rear - in front of the water heater:
I will add a strap to the wall and it should ride just fine.
