Re: Clam Six Pack 1660 Mag Screen Tent (or the Worlds easiest/fastest screen room)
We actually are using 2 of the privacy screens this trip. Just to shield us from the cg loop road. We've only needed them for a handful of trips in the 3 years that we've had this fantastic screen tent. Nice to have when needed.

Re: Princess Craft Truck Camper Rally, April 6-9, 2017
Bad news came in the form of a jury summons today. U.S. District Court on March 22. It says I need to be available for 30 days so I am changing my status to a Maybe. I have never been selected for a jury but there is always a first time. This really goofs up our plans for our annual April Hill Country getaway. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Most courts will allow you to reschedule your time, as long as you aren't trying to get out of service.

Re: Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575
Forgot to mention - Last week's trip had us towing with a heavy truck bed (load of firewood, 1 case of SNPA, 2 cases of water, & a generator that I gave to my Dad who then put it in his SUV to take to his house) to the cg and then an empty truck bed home. The rig towed exactly the same with the truck bed loaded and unloaded.

Re: king VQ4500 Tailgater for Dish Network with Wally Recevier
I use the tailgator and have been in some heavy rain without any issues, the only time I haven't gotten a signal is when my site was heavily wooded and once when there was a hill in the way but even with the hill it picked up one of the two satellites.

Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575
We recently switched TV's. We went from a more than adequate 2000 Lincoln Navigator with a self-leveling rear-end (air bags) which towed our 1575 easily straight and true to a more than adequate new-to-us 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended Cab LTZ (V8, 5.3L, factory tow package, integrated brake controller, ...). *Here is the thread on our TV switch - http://lanceowners.hoop.la/top...ed-to-a-new-to-us-tv While the truck is much more than adequate to handle our small, skinny, & light 1575...

Re: Informal Lance Get Together at Woods Canyon Lake AZ "Aspen Campground" - June 2018
We took a little ride to the Rim today, got some great photos! Although the Aspen CG is closed, the trails are open and we hiked around CG and Lake. Lots of fishing going on today! Not sure if anyone caught any. Ran into a small herd of young elk, the girls had fun. Our campsites look great! Lots of shade! Here’s a few pics of our view.

Nice photos Gene.... usually there is a lot more snow than that, I hope they get a lot more before winter closes out or else it will be bone dry come June!

Re: Informal Lance Get Together at Woods Canyon Lake AZ "Aspen Campground" - June 2018
Was interested in attending, but on Recreation.gov, all the sites in Aspen CG are marked as "Walk Up". So when we read down through the thread and see everyone with reservations, we have to wonder, "What are we missing?!". Any help here? OK, got a different result... It appears there are no reservation sites left for June 8/9, but since there are a bunch of walk-ups, so we can get up there early (7th?) and take a chance on getting a spot. We've driven further on longer odds! See you there.

Re: Informal Lance Get Together at Woods Canyon Lake AZ "Aspen Campground" - June 2018
You got it right. That indicates all the reserved sites are taken and only walk up sites will be avail... coming up on the Thursday the 7th the earlier the better or get there late the 6th. Friday gets busy with folks coming up from the valley. Also, keep an eye on the reservation site. Someone may cancel and open up a spot. Look forward to meeting you guys. The area is beautiful. They have potable water right in the campground so no need to haul water. Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Informal Lance Get Together at Woods Canyon Lake AZ "Aspen Campground" - June 2018
I was up there last weekend and visited the Aspen Campground. I had a conversation with two very nice ladies at the check-in booth and they confirmed that many sites are left for walk-in campers on a "first come-first served" basis. My suggestion is, like Rob said, get up there Thursday evening or early Friday and get one of those non-reservable sites. It's a beautiful campground on spite of no hookups!

FYI there is a significant gain in elevation 2610 ft. between Payson at 4890 ft. and Aspen Camp at 7500 ft. You will know that as you chug up that last hill to reach the top of the rim. It will be a lot cooler than Yuma Sgt.

Advanced Elements Lagoon 2 inflatable recreational tandem kayak
We've hemmed and hawed for 7 years or so on getting a kayak. Hard shell? Sit-on-top? Inflatable? Transporting? Solo or tandem? ?? We've rented at least 20 kayaks over the years and still couldn't make up our minds. In fact GRUMPA, BMJ, myself, and a few others have gone around and around about the subject here on LOA for 4 or 5 years. GRUMPA & BMJ both bought inflatables - Sea Eagle's (sweet kayaks!) - while we kept languishing over the choices and our needs. Well, we finally decided to...

Got home early today so I engaged the StableLoads, pulled out the trailer, and loaded the tongue area up with the usual stuff that we take (minus the battery lock which is 3 lbs.) - full 7.5 gallon/30 lb. LP tank (53 lbs.), group 30 Trojan battery (70.2 lbs.), & Arvika bike rack & 3 bikes (123.6 lbs.). 246.8 lbs. - *Yes I know that the bike tires aren't strapped down and that the battery box lid isn't on. Went for a drive. Just a bit too stiff & tongue high, but otherwise rock...

Fully loaded rig very curvy & hilly tow test with stop-and-go traffic as well as up to 65 mph sections - Success! The 3 wedges on the fronts & 2 wedges on the rears is the perfect combo. for our set-up. Drove from Santa Rosa, CA to Bodega Dunes cg in Bodega Bay, CA with absolutely no issues. No sway (although we didn't have any to begin with), sponginess, or porpoising. The TV & TT travel as a single unit in braking, stopping, accelerating, cruising, over bumps & pot holes,...

Thetford 550P porta potti - For quick dry camping trips with no dump station access
We are fortunate here to camp year 'round. We dry camp 95% of the time. Much of that here in CA means no access to a dump station either. For example, our local SP cg is just 15 minutes away and we quite frequently run up there for spur-of-the-moment 1 or 2 night stays. It does not have a dump station. Nor is there a dump station anywhere in between our house and there. Our local fairgrounds does have a dump station and it's only $5.00, but it is out of our way and really silly to have to...

Re: Folding Bikes
We have 2 rather unique VeloMini electric folding bikes. They have 3 speeds and can be peddled like a normal bike, or you can push a button to turn on the small motor and engage something called peddle assist which adds power to your peddling (especially nice when going up a steep hill), or you can simply then stop peddling and twist the right hand grip to engage the motor and just doodle along. The bikes will go ~12 miles in that manner at a top speed of 12 mph. They are a kick to ride, and...
