Looks good - so glad this thread has resurfaced. How easy is it to put away by one (short) person? And can one (short) person reach up to push up the roof center piece? One other question: how long is the storage bag? Will it fit across the width of the cab back seat of the truck? Or would it have to be stored along the center aisle of the TC during transit? Thanks.

I am 5'1" and can put it up by myself. To make it easier I use a small stool to reach and pop the top, but by that time the rest is stable. It is a little long, I think to put it in the back seat would have to be on an angle. My brother-in-law straps his to the ladder.

Lee-Ann, In the storage bag, ours measures about 6 feet. It won't lay down flat on your truck's rear seat, but will fit on the floor of your TC.

Last summer, we hooked up with the Red Barchetta clan for a fun filled campout. The skeeters, while not overly excessive, were enough for all to be looking for some relief and since I don't do repellant sprays unless absolutely driven insane, when Jeff pulled out his Clam, it was a welcome relief. The shelter was large enough to comfortably seat 5 adults and two dogs and we were able to sip our wine without having to whine about the bugs. Viv & I have been himmin and hawin about whether...

Re: VIAIR 400P Automatic Function Portable Compressor

R&V Spiker ·
Excellent review and photos. I was hoping you'd post a photo with something like a hand next to the unit for size reference but your photo where you stuffed it into the back seat cubby did fine. I agree about coiled air hoses in this type of application. They are stiff and quite often become a nuisance when they catch on things like a tire as you pull the air chuck around to where it's needed. Those inflate times were great but would be even more meaningful if you also included the tire...

STRONGBACK Guru Folding Camp Chair with Lumbar Support

Advnturer ·
I found a camp chair that is the most comfortable camp chair I have ever sat in. STRONGBACK Guru Folding Camp Chair with Lumbar Support The Guru is for normal stature people but for those with longer legs, the Elite is three inches taller. (I am 6' and the Guru fits me perfectly.) What sets these chair apart is the seat is designed around the lumbar support and I do not have that sinking feeling that I have when in most of the camp chairs I have sat in. Along with the support, I feel like I...

Advanced Elements Lagoon 2 inflatable recreational tandem kayak

Red Barchetta ·
We've hemmed and hawed for 7 years or so on getting a kayak. Hard shell? Sit-on-top? Inflatable? Transporting? Solo or tandem? ?? We've rented at least 20 kayaks over the years and still couldn't make up our minds. In fact GRUMPA, BMJ, myself, and a few others have gone around and around about the subject here on LOA for 4 or 5 years. GRUMPA & BMJ both bought inflatables - Sea Eagle's (sweet kayaks!) - while we kept languishing over the choices and our needs. Well, we finally decided to...

VIAIR 400P Automatic Function Portable Compressor

Big E ·
After experiencing my first tire blow out which caused $4500 in damage to my truck, I was in a fairly emotional state and willing to spend some money. During the process of changing to my under inflated spare, I discovered my current tire inflator was inadequate. I went shopping for a better one and decided on the VIAIR 400P Automatic. Automatic meaning it has a pressure switch and shuts itself off after the air hose is pressurized. The unit comes with a coiled air hose, a nice tire inflator...

Re: Nature's Head Composting Toilet

kaypee ·
LJJ, my guess is that a Nature's Head would do fine in a wet bath. First, if the lid is closed, it comes down over the seat. Any water splashing on it will roll down the side. Second, if any water DID get into the bowl area, if the trap door for the solids is closed, you have a second layer of protection for your drying chamber. Any water in the bowl is diverted in with the liquids. I live in a cool, damp climate and wasn't sure if the head would work for me. So far, so good up here.

If this is true why is good "aim" ( beyond wife's expectations ) even necessary? I'm also curious how much, umm, activity a Natures Head can handle over a period of time, before it's prematurely full.

Thetford Aqua Magic Residence RV Toilet

Big E ·
Back in September I changed out the stock toilet in our camper, a Thetford Aqua Magic V hand flush for a Thetford Aqua Magic Residence foot flush. After two camping trips with the new toilet Cyndi and I both agree it was a good change. Here is the stock toilet I removed. And here is the new toilet. Staying with the same brand helped to eliminate any dimensional problems. I looked at some of the offerings from Dometic but there would have been a clearance issue between the toilet and the back...

Already have my butt firmly planted in my 21st century seat with all the electronic devices installed on the trailer which includes a Trimetric battery monitor. I just choose not to go further when the analog/mechanical gauge works just fine. No batteries required and no need to change. It will be interesting to see, as you pointed out, whether there will be crosstalk when two of yous park next to each other at a rally. A problem "dinosaurs" need not worry about.

Koolatron W75 Kool Wheeler

Simon & B ·
We've had This Guy since before we got the Lance (2013). It's proved really good at keeping things cool, with an up to 40 degrees difference between outside temps and cooler temps. It draws about 5 amps at 12 VDC, so a 100 watt solar panel can keep up with it, and even as an unpowered cooler, it's well insulated. We got the Koolatron 110 volt adapter, which has just this last trip failed, and we're testing a generic 10 amp replacement, which seems to be working well. We also got the...

Re: Folding Bikes

We have 2 rather unique VeloMini electric folding bikes. They have 3 speeds and can be peddled like a normal bike, or you can push a button to turn on the small motor and engage something called peddle assist which adds power to your peddling (especially nice when going up a steep hill), or you can simply then stop peddling and twist the right hand grip to engage the motor and just doodle along. The bikes will go ~12 miles in that manner at a top speed of 12 mph. They are a kick to ride, and...
