Re: Torklift battery box initial review
I installed mine late last week after returning from an 850 mile excursion with my 1985. I agree with your review 100%, including the part that "I'm very happy with it". I like it because everything goes into the box and there is plenty of room, and it only needs one function to unlock it versus undoing the box straps. I purchased the box designed for two six volt batteries even though I'm running two group 24's. I also replaced the locks (plural because I also own the propane lock system,...

Re: 2014 Pismo Beach Rally - 4/3/2014 - 4/8/2014
Hi Engunir, The rally will probably only have Lance owners and anyone else who is interested in Lance are always welcome to stop by or camp with us! We don't have any vendors scheduled, but they're always welcome. Our knowledge base is pretty experienced, so if you or any attendees have any questions we are always there to answer any questions. To date, we have a whale watching trip planned and then there are always wine tasting trips, potluck dinners and such. We also plan on driving at...

B-D RV Battery Lock (12-volt)

Re: B-D RV Battery Lock (12-volt)
We just returned from a 2-night dry camping trip. Since it was only 2 nights I decided to go with our puny group 24 battery that came with the 1575 (we rarely use it and instead use a group 29 battery almost always). The group 24 (from our dealer) came with a crappy (group 24) battery box that is square. I wasn't sure if the battery lock would work with this box, but it did (a loose fit, but secure "enough") so I took a couple of pictures. You can also see that the 2 battery cables & the...

Re: B-D RV Battery Lock (12-volt)
Great job, Jeff. I have a little story about the B-D battery lock. We ordered one and I (Simon) took it to the trailer to 'eye it up'. Then I got distracted and moved the trailer somewhere else, and, you guessed it, the darn B-D lock fell off where I was 'eyeing it up', never to be seen again. I called B-D and pulled the pity trick and they gave me 10% off a new set. As it happens, I put on a replacement battery box cover this weekend, and replaced the OEM battery box strap with the B-D...

Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575
We recently switched TV's. We went from a more than adequate 2000 Lincoln Navigator with a self-leveling rear-end (air bags) which towed our 1575 easily straight and true to a more than adequate new-to-us 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended Cab LTZ (V8, 5.3L, factory tow package, integrated brake controller, ...). *Here is the thread on our TV switch - http://lanceowners.hoop.la/top...ed-to-a-new-to-us-tv While the truck is much more than adequate to handle our small, skinny, & light 1575...

DeeZee Red Label Fifth Wheel Utility Chest (DZ8560WB)
2 months ago yesterday we bought a new-to-us truck/TV - A 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended Cab LTZ (V8, 5.3L, integrated brake controller, factory backup camera, integrated TPMS, remote start, ...), etc ... http://lanceowners.hoop.la/top...ed-to-a-new-to-us-tv I then bought a bed mat - http://lanceowners.hoop.la/top...9#550326589916257509 So last week I asked my fellow LOA'ers about 5th wheel boxes/chests. As it so happened JamesHB is the ONLY LOA'er who actually has one -...

Re: Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)
A good choice! Is the 66-70 lb weight ever an issue being too much for one person to handle alone? The SCS225 battery is more of a marine battery, meaning it is designed to deliver high amps. Do you know how your 30xhs bulk, float, and equalize voltages compare to what your converter/charger puts out, or your solar charger if you have one?

Re: Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)
Red, I am in the process of buying the same battery and a battery box. According to specs, t he atwood box you use is about 1/10 of an inch shorter in length than this battery, so I was going to buy a larger box, that has a bit too much extra room, and I am concerned it might not fit in the 1575 mounting area due to more width (I dont have my trailer yet so cant measure it). Is it a very tight fit lengthwise, perhaps a concern, or perhaps limiting tthe necessary ventilation?

You'll be happy with the Attwood (not to be confused with Atwood who makes our stoves, etc...) group 27 box as well. It holds group 27, 29, & 30 batteries as well as goes perfectly with the B&D lock.

Joe - You won't be sorry that you got this battery. I do have holes in the bottom of my box, but don't have time to post pictures. Also, I store my battery & box in the garage between trips so there's another reason why holes on the top aren't much of an issue for me. If I were you I would get the box that DD J has (& posted above) as it doesn't have holes in the lid & looks like it works with the B&D lock. Nice find DD J!

Re: Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)
Hi Laura, Sorry I missed this. Been busy with fires in our area. Evacuated with the trailer one night - dry camped in my sister-in-law's driveway & the battery was still at 96% in the morning with a lot of furnace & water pump use. Been on high alert ever since ready to roll. Driving back home brought the battery back to 100% & it is now plugged in to the house remaining fully charged. Just taking a rare rest this week and got on LOA. This will be short, but ask away for expanded...

Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)
Picked up one of these today - http://www.trojanbattery.com/product/30xhs/ With our 1575 and the way that we load it (tongue-mounted bike rack with 3 bikes & 7.5 gallon/30 lb. LP tank) we run with a single battery on the tongue. *We dry camp and have solar &/or generator's depending upon the trip so a single battery has worked well for us for almost 16 years now. Through my work I accrue points towards purchases at certain places. One of them being Battery Systems (where I only had 4...

Advanced Elements Lagoon 2 inflatable recreational tandem kayak
We've hemmed and hawed for 7 years or so on getting a kayak. Hard shell? Sit-on-top? Inflatable? Transporting? Solo or tandem? ?? We've rented at least 20 kayaks over the years and still couldn't make up our minds. In fact GRUMPA, BMJ, myself, and a few others have gone around and around about the subject here on LOA for 4 or 5 years. GRUMPA & BMJ both bought inflatables - Sea Eagle's (sweet kayaks!) - while we kept languishing over the choices and our needs. Well, we finally decided to...

Re: Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575
Got home early today so I engaged the StableLoads, pulled out the trailer, and loaded the tongue area up with the usual stuff that we take (minus the battery lock which is 3 lbs.) - full 7.5 gallon/30 lb. LP tank (53 lbs.), group 30 Trojan battery (70.2 lbs.), & Arvika bike rack & 3 bikes (123.6 lbs.). 246.8 lbs. - *Yes I know that the bike tires aren't strapped down and that the battery box lid isn't on. Went for a drive. Just a bit too stiff & tongue high, but otherwise rock...
