B-D RV Battery Lock (12-volt)

B-D RV Battery Lock: http://www.b-drvbatterylock.com/   Even though I/we have never ever had an issue with a battery "walking away" in the 15+ years that we have been trailer camping I have been intrigued whenever I would see this simple battery...

Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575

Red Barchetta ·
We recently switched TV's. We went from a more than adequate 2000 Lincoln Navigator with a self-leveling rear-end (air bags) which towed our 1575 easily straight and true to a more than adequate new-to-us 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended Cab LTZ (V8, 5.3L, factory tow package, integrated brake controller, ...). *Here is the thread on our TV switch - http://lanceowners.hoop.la/top...ed-to-a-new-to-us-tv While the truck is much more than adequate to handle our small, skinny, & light 1575...

Traeger Portable Tabletop Grill (TPT+Grill)

Advnturer ·
In an earlier post, I included the Traeger Camp Grill in a list of what to pack when headed out. I received an inquiry about it and thought it might be a good product to add to the Product Reviews page. Product: Traeger Portable Tabletop Grill (TPG+Grill) http://www.traegergrills.com/s...es/ptg/TFT17LLA.html I have used this grill exclusively since I bought my first Traeger at Costco last spring. This is a Pellet Grill that will do everything asked of it. I loved my full size so much, I...

Re: Dometic LP GasChecker (LPGC10)

Red Barchetta ·
You bet WG. Yeah, it is just annoying after just 4 or 5 checks on a known tank level. Not fun. Not even close to precise. Hit-and-miss. Just frustrating. I can see this thing in a year or 2 now - I'll find it in the garage with a dead battery. I'm sprinting back to the good old hot water down the side of the tank with a quick feel and you always know the LP level method.

Jeff, does the hot water method required LP being drawn from the tank at the time, or can you do it without any LP flowing from the tank?

Just had a positive experience on the back yard bbq tank (20 lb.). The bbq was off. I did not have a hand on the tank. There were no lights on anywhere around (all of my previous tests were in the garage with lights on or outside with lights on nearby). This time I cleaned the probe end with a wet paper towel & did not dry it off. I then immediately checked the tank. The results were pretty positive although with 3 missed/flashing readings. The LP level is right below the weld on the...

Interesting. I wonder if the wet tip on the LP checker had anything to do with the new found increase in consistency.

I'm back with 6.2 pounds of LP and the tank is as full as is possible. Once again, bbq is off, no hand on the tank, wet probe end, & no lights on. 3 readings with 4 misfires/flashing. Also used the hot water method which gave the precise level. The device doesn't work once you get off of a flat surface (90 degrees) as you can see below where the tank tapers at the top. Bottom line - I'm still sticking to my C grade/rating. This will most likely get lost in the garage and I will continue to get a cup of hot water from the TT sink to pour on the TT LP tank to see exactly how much LP is left to run the WH to heat up the fresh water in the TT for me to drain from the TT sink.

Re: Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)

A good choice! Is the 66-70 lb weight ever an issue being too much for one person to handle alone? The SCS225 battery is more of a marine battery, meaning it is designed to deliver high amps. Do you know how your 30xhs bulk, float, and equalize voltages compare to what your converter/charger puts out, or your solar charger if you have one?

Red, I am in the process of buying the same battery and a battery box. According to specs, t he atwood box you use is about 1/10 of an inch shorter in length than this battery, so I was going to buy a larger box, that has a bit too much extra room, and I am concerned it might not fit in the 1575 mounting area due to more width (I dont have my trailer yet so cant measure it). Is it a very tight fit lengthwise, perhaps a concern, or perhaps limiting tthe necessary ventilation?

Hi Laura, Sorry I missed this. Been busy with fires in our area. Evacuated with the trailer one night - dry camped in my sister-in-law's driveway & the battery was still at 96% in the morning with a lot of furnace & water pump use. Been on high alert ever since ready to roll. Driving back home brought the battery back to 100% & it is now plugged in to the house remaining fully charged. Just taking a rare rest this week and got on LOA. This will be short, but ask away for expanded...

Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)

Picked up one of these today - http://www.trojanbattery.com/product/30xhs/ With our 1575 and the way that we load it (tongue-mounted bike rack with 3 bikes & 7.5 gallon/30 lb. LP tank) we run with a single battery on the tongue. *We dry camp and have solar &/or generator's depending upon the trip so a single battery has worked well for us for almost 16 years now. Through my work I accrue points towards purchases at certain places. One of them being Battery Systems (where I only had 4...

I have to agree that the Wynn's perkiness can be a bit much. Even when they're saying some pretty harsh things about the way RVs are manufactured it comes across as rough as if an extra ice cube was perhaps in order for the iced tea served at lunch. To give them the credit, several of their videos have piqued my interest. They have some nice information on solar and inverters. And they are self proclaimed "poop experts." Composters have a really bad reputation up here from pipeline...

Got home early today so I engaged the StableLoads, pulled out the trailer, and loaded the tongue area up with the usual stuff that we take (minus the battery lock which is 3 lbs.) - full 7.5 gallon/30 lb. LP tank (53 lbs.), group 30 Trojan battery (70.2 lbs.), & Arvika bike rack & 3 bikes (123.6 lbs.). 246.8 lbs. - *Yes I know that the bike tires aren't strapped down and that the battery box lid isn't on. Went for a drive. Just a bit too stiff & tongue high, but otherwise rock...

Re: Mr. Heater Portable Buddy LP heater (supplemental while awake heat)

sealyin ·
We have used the one in the OP for years. Mostly out in the desert when we don't want to eat up the battery with the furnace blower at night. Crack a window and a vent and all is good. One of my projects is to plumb it to the trailer LP so I don't have to carry the bottles.

I do agree there are times where the Buddy comes in handy, however, because of the moisture that the unit produces and the headaches I get when I use the device for extended periods of time, I only use it when I am very low on LP, or during an emergency. I personally don't like to use the Portable Buddy in general use. Just me. I don't know if I get a headache because I think I should or because there is a justifiable cause.

Extra cost and got to carry it someplace and hope it doesn't spill, ever tried to clean up the blue stain after it dries? Why gloves, just wash your hands! it is your stuff, why worry!
