Furrion has recently released this AC unit for all installation as a replacement AC unit. Prior to this release you could only get this model on new Brinkley 5th wheels (maybe others). Besides the 18,000 BTU capability is the low power draw:
- Power consumption (cooling): 1,330 watts
- Cooling power draw: 11.6 amps
It also has an "Eco" mode that draws even less power. That might be a very desirable setting if boondocking. There are several models to choose from. This one comes with a Furrion wall thermostat that will replace the current one and still power the furnace as required. I do not believe any of these Chill Cubes come with a heat strip but I did read that they are working on that. Also, do to the low power requirement a "soft start" is not required. This model is ducted but also comes in a non ducted model as well.
My Coleman is still running right now but this unit will certainly be considered when it poops out down the road.
