Got my own Honda EU2000i generator today and my No Spill gas can and all the misc doodads,, It took abut 10 pulls on the first times to start the thing, but as of far, it's a great, super quiet genny, I put a magnetic dipstick in there to catch shavings, which are going to happen. I also installed a Hardline Tach/Hour meter, which was a lot easier on the Honda than the Smarter Tools Genny I had. Gassed up a with a little Sta-bil gas protectant, also put in 10/w 30 synthetic oil and will...

Sounds like you have a good one. I know it isn't the least expensive but it is hard to argue with the quality and reliability of the Honda. It should give you many years of service. Linn & Sun

I recently sold another type of small motor Honda that has been beat on, neglected, and abused in harsh environments for over 30 years! (Only about 10 years by me) I think I changed the oil 3 or 4 times in that 10 years. Bike didn't cost me much, and I just wanted to ride. Found out when I was selling it that I had cracked the frame (1985 Suspension technology ain't what it is today) but that motor simply will... not... die. Yeah, I think you'll get your money's worth out of your Honda.

Recently purchased a Hutch Mountain propane conversion kit for one of our two Honda gens. Anxious to install and gauge performance. Used one of two gens during a trip to Grand Canyon this past summer. Camping at higher elevations we found we did not need the 2nd gen since no A/C was necessary. We also use our gens as backup power for our home. We can run critical home circuits on one gen. Being able to tap into our 400 gallon propane heating supply makes this very handy for extended power...

Similar for me so far. I have the 2020 1995 with the Coleman Mach AC and the Honda EU2200i feeding us during a Walmart overnight. All the pre-season, pre-purchase research I did convinced me that I would be installing a soft start on the AC to temper the load but much to our pleasant surprise, (so far anyway) we’re running low speed AC and enjoying a bit of cool. The generator is working hard when the compressor kicks on but overall we’re getting the results we need. Glad to hear of others’ ...

Honda EU2000i Generator Review

I recently rented one from Home Depot despite the negative attitude of the rental guy (that it wouldn't run my 2014 9k A/C) HA! I did my research and guess what, it worked beautifully! Easy to start (one tug) and worked almost silently. The thing is you don't start it in ECO MODE, full on power is what you need. Now the newer 9k units might be a little more touchy as Coleman-Mach has made changes to the 9k, so that's iffy. If you have a newer model 9k, I'd rent one and see how it runs. For...

Re: RecPro 9.5 BTU A/C

Just installed the Recpro Houghton 9.5 btu to replace the horribly noisy Coleman Mach 13.5. It is SO quiet!!! We have never used the Coleman because of the noise. We ordered it with our TT not knowing it was a waste of money. At least I should be able to get something out of it on Craig's list. The new unit was $1150. 9.5's are a bit more expensive that the Recpro 13.5 but it is lighter and less power requirements. The unit is about 1/2 the size of the Coleman with a much lower roof profile...

Just for a visual to show how different models of air conditioners made by the same company draw different amperages, here are some comparisons I've run across and documented. In the pics below you can see how the "PS" or Power Saver models really beat the rest at amperage draw if you have a small generator. DuoTherm "13.5K BTU Brisk Air" models were common in older Lances. They drew high amperage, which is why 2000 watt generators just couldn't run them. 15.1 amps while running. The...

SpartanStart – Soft Start

Charlie1 ·
I’ve been considering adding a soft start for some time now. I recently noticed a large influx of competing models to the original Micro-Air. Of course, most of them are made in China with questionable warranty and reputation. Then I noticed the SpartanStart – Soft Start. I did a search here and did not see any reviews or comments. I promised Gary at Inverters-R-US that I’d write a review here after installation. The SpartanStart is made in Australia and comes with a 3-year warranty. Sold by...

https://community.lanceowners....1#617906715056913911 Call Gary at Inverters-R-US and ask for the discount. A friend of mine did that after I ordered and he also got the discount. My AC is the Airxcel Coleman Mach 15k BTU unit that came on my 2018 2375.

One of the advantages with regard to the Coleman soft start is that it does not void the warranty on the Coleman-Mach AC's. I only discovered this fact after I had installed the SpartinStart. Regardless, I'm very happy with the SpartinStart's performance, it's made in Australia, it was easy to install, and it was about half the cost of a Micro-Air.

Another option is the Coleman soft starter. Since my AC is a Coleman mach, I felt it was a safe option. Works as advertised. About $200.00

I bought it direct from MicroAir. There was a SKU number difference between the one I bought and the one that I think the LOA store has and I don’t know what the difference is between the two. When I went to MicroAir’s website, they have a selector helper and it came up with the one I bought (single zone Coleman-Mach/AirXcel replacement), even had a picture of my particular thermostat on the page). I suspect that it’s probably not a big difference, it may only be the one that I bought...

MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat

fpmtngal ·
Today I received and installed a MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat and thought I would write up some information about it. It has a lot of nice features - it combines some of the features of smart home thermostats with systems/needs for RVs. Some of the specific RV needs - my trailer came with a Coleman-Mach Quiet series air conditioner with a heat strip, so the OEM thermostat has a setting for electric heat (the heat strip) or gas heat (the Dometic furnace). The MicroAir thermostat keeps...

Why don’t you also look at the Coleman-Mach Quiet series of air conditioners? I put a 13.5K NDQ (non-ducted quiet) AC into the 1685. At the time I didn’t think the thermostat in my 2016 trailer would be able to deal with a heat strip, so didn’t pursue that, don’t know whether it could be added to one of their NDQ units. A quick search of their website shows there is a lot less information than there had been before. They’ve also added a power saver NDQ model - that would have been perfect...

Really?! Now that might be worth pursuing. For my use, a power saver A/C is a must and has been the main reason I never switched to the NDQ. Thanks for the heads up.

Would the heat pump unit, work with this thermostat or only heat strip? The heat strip (resistance) is the least efficient or the two.

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat

A couple of interesting things I noticed this morning when my schedule went into motion (changed the heat temperature). The Coleman-Mach air conditioner, as set up with the AirXcel thermostat, will only run the fan on low when using the heat strip. The MicroAir separates the fan operation from the mode it’s in, so when I had the fan setting set to full auto, the system kicked up the AC fan up to high when the heat came on (the thermostat differential was 4°F). I went back and changed the fan...

I haven’t had any issues with the thermostat, I really like it. It took me a bit to get used to the interface, but it’s pretty logical. It hasn’t given me any trouble, works just like it should. It recommends a 3 degree differential to avoid short-cycling, which works well with heat, but somehow I find that it’s a bit more than I like for AC when the AC starts cycling - but that is more about how I react to air conditioning than the thermostat. I could change it to 2° or more than 3, but...

@fpmtngal Hi Harriet, It's been a while now since you installed the Microair thermostat - any issues or new thoughts? I'm looking at getting one again. I'm also curious about the Mach 10 NDQ that you had on your 1685 - was there a notable difference in how quickly it cooled the trailer compared to the stock 9.2K Mach 8 units that came on the 1685? Hope life is treating you well these days, looking forward to seeing you at Shingletown, take care until then.

I'm a little late to this party! I may need to get this thermostat. Our 2285 factory t'stat was in bedroom area. Not ideal. By the time stat was satisfied, living area was a sauna and bed room too hot for sleeping. I moved the Mach thermostat to living area by extending wires in closet. Chose to put it close to outside wall to keep wires contained in closet wire chase. That spot by wall isn't the best, but it's waaaay better than factory location. Been happy with this change. Now we need...
