The Lowest Prices for Propane

I've found propane price, varies from $2.70 to $3.10, mainly depending on, if state has sales tax or not and if it's included in displayed price.  Depends by state and dealer.  Level of service, also effects price.  I always prefer, not dealing with grumpy person, that hates filling tanks.

I carry extra, so I just get it, when/where it's convenient.  From high to low, you're talking couple bucks difference, per tank.  It's not worth much inconvenience, to save couple bucks.  I don't use exchange tanks, unless my tank is expiring.  You get partially filled exchange, at double price, plus their often least convenient place/service.

Costco has always been the lowest price for propane around here.

I like using the propane companies when I can thinking maybe their employees are trained better.  But I've been using Tractor Supply here at home because the closest propane company charges a flat rate based on tank size and TS charges based on actual amount put into the tanks.  I usually have a partial tank to top off.  I figure if I'm going to go to the trouble I might as well take care of all the tanks at once. 

We normally look for a Tractor Supply to refill our tanks when on the road.  I recently took two bottles to our local TS store and they would not fill them!  "Out of Date"  the guy said.

So 2 miles up the road was a WM Supercenter.  This was the first time for me to do the exchange switch.  They charged $17 for each 20lb tank.  Had to go inside to pay, and back outside to wait for someone.  After the gal did the switch, I asked if she wanted to see my receipt.  Not necessary, she said, you look honest.   

I've been filling my propane tank at a local American Legion hall.  It's a flat rate regardless of how much propane you need.  I don't mind feeding them some small income and I don't mind a few extra bucks here and there; it's small potatoes compared to the cost of the gas to haul our Lance around on a vacation.  But the last time I filled the tank my Mopeka gauge reported it was only about 68% full.  Well, I don't mind not getting quite as much propane as I was thought I was paying for but I do mind the idea of heading out for a 2 week vacation with a tank that is 10% low to start with.  I have to decide whether to go back there, or if I do whether to mention it and ask the attendant to check the weights carefully.
