Re: Good Sam RV GPS

DandV ·
We've been using the Good Sam GPS for over a month now. Haven't used it yet for an RV trip (not before April of this year), but we did take it with us to Atlanta, GA over Christmas. So far, we're very pleased with it. We've been configuring it for the points of interest (gas stations, restaurants, etc.) we want it to display while we're on the road. We've used the wi-fi feature to connect through my cell phone and get real-time weather reports and forecasts, which is nice. We've also used...

Re: Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)

whistler ·
Cris and Krista, the question about equalozing is a good one. I am not an expert, but I do think Imhave a good answer. Of course, the Lance supplied charge controller does not provide an equalizing charge comparible with this Trajan battery. And batteries are all, different in terms or bulk, float and equalize charge requirements. So no matter what battery you have, it most likely is not truly compatible with the charge controller. The equalize charge is a special case on 12 flooded cell and...

Find me Spot (Spot Gen 3)

Fizbin ·
Woodglue turned me on to this device. https://www.amazon.com/Spot-Satellite-SPOT-Gen3-Messenger/dp/B00C8S8S4W/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 I bought one and paid for the annual monitoring ($150) and so far love it. I used it on my trip out to Chino Valley AZ and then to the mountains of Santa Fe. Both had no cell service. It basically receives AND transmits via satellite so you don't have to have cell reception to get rudimentary communications out. There are 5 buttons on the thing you...

WeBoost (Wilson Electronics) Drive 4GM Cell Signal Booster

Big E ·
I recently aquired a WeBoost Drive 4GM cell signal booster. The 4GM isn't the latest and greatest offering, that would be the Drive 4GX. I was initially drawn to the 4GX plus RV essentials kit which retails for $619.99. The Drive 4GX by itself sells for $479 and the 4GM for $379. I purchased the Drive 4GM from Amazon Warehouse Deals (technically used) for $273. Both the 4GM and 4GX are rated to boost cell signal by up to 50 db. The difference being the 4GX is supposed to be twice as powerful...

TireMinder Smart TPMS - Smartphone Based Tire Pressure Monitor for RVs

Red Barchetta ·
http://www.minderresearch.com/...ure-monitor-for-rvs/ Our last TPMS (by TST) which we used for the past few years completely failed us last month so it's time to give another one a try. Having a single-axle trailer we realize the many benefits in monitoring the pressure & temperature of the TT's 2 tires as well as the main spare tire and a 2nd extreme emergency spare tire that is for trips that are more than a few hours from home (it will stay home for local trips). The main spare tire...

Re: iBALL Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera

DandV ·
Bob, I certainly will post some pictures as soon as I get a chance to use it with both the TV and TT. This morning, we walked the camera at least 25 feet away from the rear of the TV, with another vehicle in between, and the picture was still transmitting with no problem. I'm not sure how the big box shape of the TT will affect it, but one of my ideas is to test it on the back of the TT, while backing it up to see if it will still work. Also, the troubleshooting instructions say the blue...

Re: iBALL Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera

DandV ·
Used the iBALL for the first time today. Used it first to hitch the TV and TT. I found it to be very easy once I got the hang of looking at the screen while backing the TV into place. Then, I put the camera on the back bumper of the TT when I was backing it into our storage space. That worked out very well also. Below is a picture of the screen shot I took with my cell phone of the view I had as I was backing into our space. The picture is fuzzy because it's a picture of a picture, and I...

Re: iBALL Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera

Dave, Here are a couple of better pictures of the iBALL that I was able to take this morning. I like the device because it's portable, and I can put it wherever I want. I'm not sure I would use it on the highway, however. The magnet in the camera base is strong, but I'm not sure it would hold up to road jarring. And the 9V battery is only good for 2-3 hours. Another thing I like is it didn't seem to interfere with the blue tooth technology that syncs my cell phone with my truck. For me, it...

Re: PowerAll PBJS12000R Rosso Red/Black Portable Power Bank and Car Jump Starter

WoodGlue ·
I don't care about 20 starts, after all I'm not working for AAA LOL All I need for it to do is to jump my car once, or a strangers car once - and it's paid for itself Plus I can power up and charge my cell phone, tablet etc from the thing - so it's all good. I'll report back here as soon as I use it (it's arrived and it's built well) It will live in my car in the back back side bin! Reviewers on Amazon are notoriously hard on products of this type, and this thing has 4.5 stars (488 reviews) ...

Re: SlimPort-to-HDMI adapter for mirroring phone on tv

Red Barchetta ·
Bruce - That is excellent news. It really looks good on the Jensen too. Cell service and wifi was sketchy at the cg this past weekend so we couldn't watch a game or a movie, but I did have an episode of a cartoon show ("Regular Show" - season 1 was free last week in the Play store) in my phone's memory so our son watched it. Worked & looked great!
