Re: Honda EU2000i Generator Review

Bruce R. ·
I recently sold another type of small motor Honda that has been beat on, neglected, and abused in harsh environments for over 30 years! (Only about 10 years by me) I think I changed the oil 3 or 4 times in that 10 years. Bike didn't cost me much, and I just wanted to ride. Found out when I was selling it that I had cracked the frame (1985 Suspension technology ain't what it is today) but that motor simply will... not... die. Yeah, I think you'll get your money's worth out of your Honda.

Re: VIAIR 400P Automatic Function Portable Compressor

Loren Jones ·
Erick, Great write up on the ViaAir I have been looking at this ViaAir 400P for sometime for my 2013 truck. I have an ExtremeAire compressor that I installed in 2004 that is been flawless in my 1999 Truck. I went through several smaller (read as broke) units before installing the ExtremeAire. I am wondering if anybody has used one of these ViaAir products over a say 10 year period and how has it held up? The downside of the ExtremeAire is the amount of power it draws and associated $$.

My schwintech motor failed on my 1172. So after being on the phone with them to bypass the motor. No way this was going to happen. It was the rear slide could not get into the unit   Had to put a child into the storage bay and open the exit...

excapt hatch for a 1172

flniehus ·
I just purchased a 2013, 1172 with hail damage. I am looking for the large hatch approx 25'' x 32''. I called the dealer and they want $1100 for to whole unit. I only need the plastic cover. There must be a lot of owners needing just the cover from hail, wind or any other type of damage. I also am looking for the emergency switch to shut off the motor to the slide and the access and crank to run it manually it needed. I do not see any place for it. The book says its got a switch to shut off...

Yes, it's illegal in California (and a bunch of other states) to suction cup mount anything to the right hand side of the drivers wheel. It looks like California may have amended the law - they now allow you to mount something in the lower left corner of the windshield. But what does "door to door operation" actually mean (see below) https://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc26708.htm Google: "GPS mounting state laws" and find the info for your own state, and the states that you plan to visit!

The problem with using ethanol enriched fuel in small engines is the fuel does not cycle through like it does in a motor vehicle. That fuel can sit in any small engine for months, and some are designed with alcohol proof hoses and tubing and some are not. The biggest problem with the ethanol enriched fuel is phase separation, where the alcohol breaks down and attracts water vapor and moisture, and you end up with a slug of water on the bottom of the tank, carburetor, fuel lines, etc., and...

No, not bad info. My manual says the same thing, so the fuel lines are designed to use ethanol fuel. These generators don't use a lot of fuel, so there is a good chance that without an additive you can have the separation--or use 100% gas. Cars go thru a tank in a week, that fuel may be in a generator for months. The only benefit for using a higher octane fuel than an engine is designed for is you're donating extra profit to the refiner/distributor/dealer. Every manual for every motor has...

Like Doug said, 1 pull with choke out, then push it in. I have had a small motor that require two pulls with the choke out but not more than that. Motors/carbs are all a little different, try one, then two pulls to see what works. I've been surprised just how easy this Yamaha motor starts and how quiet it is.
