Re: B-D RV Battery Lock (12-volt)
Great job, Jeff. I have a little story about the B-D battery lock. We ordered one and I (Simon) took it to the trailer to 'eye it up'. Then I got distracted and moved the trailer somewhere else, and, you guessed it, the darn B-D lock fell off where I was 'eyeing it up', never to be seen again. I called B-D and pulled the pity trick and they gave me 10% off a new set. As it happens, I put on a replacement battery box cover this weekend, and replaced the OEM battery box strap with the B-D...

Re: Swagman RV Ladder Bike Rack
Been using this same rack for 3 years on our 2285. No issues. Do add a strap around the bikes and the upper ladder rung for extra support. Also did do two mods to make it more secure. One, a plywood face plate that slides onto the step behind the rack and provides a large contact area for the two foam bumpers instead of the bumpers sitting on the knife edge of the step. Two, straps that hold the rack tight to the ladder. Nylon webbings and two buckles from Home Depot.

Advanced Elements Lagoon 2 inflatable recreational tandem kayak
We've hemmed and hawed for 7 years or so on getting a kayak. Hard shell? Sit-on-top? Inflatable? Transporting? Solo or tandem? ?? We've rented at least 20 kayaks over the years and still couldn't make up our minds. In fact GRUMPA, BMJ, myself, and a few others have gone around and around about the subject here on LOA for 4 or 5 years. GRUMPA & BMJ both bought inflatables - Sea Eagle's (sweet kayaks!) - while we kept languishing over the choices and our needs. Well, we finally decided to...

Re: 1st Annual Door County Color Gathering
Is your place REALLY, REALLY large dog friendly? I can't go anywhere without my beast. See - she already has her winter wardrobe.

Re: 1st Annual Door County Color Gathering
Maybe next year... Because of recent back surgery, we're getting off to a late start this year and are contemplating being at Cape Breton NS during that October time frame.

We have 3 large (sorta) dogs, but we have guests with dogs camping here all the time and never had a problem. They are very friendly with man and beast.

LEE AND LORIE- As a pure coincidence, we will be at Peninsula State Park, just up the road from you, on 9 & 10 October. If your event is still on, we would like to stop by and visit with everyone. -Grayden

Marcia @acmaintainer and I sorta talked about going after we cancelled our plans of attending the Cape Breton Island NS Celtic Music Fest. Several truck problems have us turning south now.

We are considering your gathering. Our youngest son's birthday is the 14th of October and we usually celebrate it with him. He and his wife live in Slinger,WI not far to your south. It could very well work out!

Re: Carefree Awning Support Poles
If one can't drive a stake in the ground for a strap, I have seen some folks use a couple of 5 gallon buckets full of rocks or water for hold down weights. They set them on the ground next to the poles and attach a strap to each.

Re: Carefree Awning Support Poles
Living in KS - wind is our friend/enemy - but I found the spiral stakes work well in most soil types - I picked this kit up off of Amazon - Camco 42593 Awning Anchor Kit with Pull Tension Strap The one think I found with the springs, they will allow the awning to lift the poles off the ground slightly in strong winds, but not enough to allow the awning to be damaged. The springs are not required and the spiral anchor can be picked up at Walmart in the pet department... There are curved...

Re: Carefree Awning Support Poles
Yeowza, they sure are! I use 2 painters poles and a squeegee holder to do the same. It doe need to be anchored somehow because it occasionally falls to the side if the wind lifts the awning a little. This might be the best way to keep the corners down. I have used the Carefree poles and had them anchored tightly at 45* as directed Wind gusts lifted the corners just enough to cause the pole to dangle for an instant and not settle in the same place.

@Lee and Lorie - I clicked the wrong button. At the moment we're a maybe! Looks like we'd be the third trailer. Edit 6.2.2019: Rough trip itinerary set and we plan to be there. @Lee and Lorie - is there room for our 2285? Last time I talked to you your area was under 3' of snow!

Re: Mount n lock safety struts
Yes, I installed them and also installed a good Curt bumper hitch receiver so we can carry our two 65 lb Lectric ebikes. The bike rack also weighs about 60 lbs and so far so good. One note of caution...our ladder is positioned in the middle of the back wall which enables us to secure the bikes with a cinch strap. I would not even think of carrying such a heavy load on the bumper if we couldn't secure the bikes in this fashion.
