B-D RV Battery Lock (12-volt)

Red Barchetta ·
B-D RV Battery Lock: http://www.b-drvbatterylock.com/   Even though I/we have never ever had an issue with a battery "walking away" in the 15+ years that we have been trailer camping I have been intrigued whenever I would see this simple battery...

TST TPMS New and Improved Wide Screen Color Monitor

R&V Spiker ·
I just received my TST Wide Screen color monitor yesterday and got it up and running on the bench. Wow! The display is real nice with larger digits and added color. However, I do have a few issues I'd like to report. The new monitor is now powered by a 5 volt mini plug just like what one uses for their smart phone (Android, not Apple). This presents a challenge as I had the previous 12 volt monochrome monitor's power cord hard wired into the overhead console in my Tundra which was a nice...

Re: Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)

A good choice! Is the 66-70 lb weight ever an issue being too much for one person to handle alone? The SCS225 battery is more of a marine battery, meaning it is designed to deliver high amps. Do you know how your 30xhs bulk, float, and equalize voltages compare to what your converter/charger puts out, or your solar charger if you have one?

Red, I am in the process of buying the same battery and a battery box. According to specs, t he atwood box you use is about 1/10 of an inch shorter in length than this battery, so I was going to buy a larger box, that has a bit too much extra room, and I am concerned it might not fit in the 1575 mounting area due to more width (I dont have my trailer yet so cant measure it). Is it a very tight fit lengthwise, perhaps a concern, or perhaps limiting tthe necessary ventilation?

Hi Red, I've been reading through your thread re: the Trojan 30XHS battery set-up on your 1575. Thank you so much for such a thorough write-up, and I'm certain this is the route I will go with my 1575. I have one question which is probably pretty dumb; in the picture showing your Victron shunt attached to the battery - is it permanently installed there? Not being familiar with the battery box and actual size of the shunt, just can't tell if there is enough space once you put the lid on the...

Re: Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)

Red Barchetta ·
Hi Laura, Sorry I missed this. Been busy with fires in our area. Evacuated with the trailer one night - dry camped in my sister-in-law's driveway & the battery was still at 96% in the morning with a lot of furnace & water pump use. Been on high alert ever since ready to roll. Driving back home brought the battery back to 100% & it is now plugged in to the house remaining fully charged. Just taking a rare rest this week and got on LOA. This will be short, but ask away for expanded...

Trojan 30XHS 12-volt group 30 deep-cycle battery (130 AH)

Red Barchetta ·
Picked up one of these today - http://www.trojanbattery.com/product/30xhs/ With our 1575 and the way that we load it (tongue-mounted bike rack with 3 bikes & 7.5 gallon/30 lb. LP tank) we run with a single battery on the tongue. *We dry camp and have solar &/or generator's depending upon the trip so a single battery has worked well for us for almost 16 years now. Through my work I accrue points towards purchases at certain places. One of them being Battery Systems (where I only had 4...

WeBoost (Wilson Electronics) Drive 4GM Cell Signal Booster

Big E ·
I recently aquired a WeBoost Drive 4GM cell signal booster. The 4GM isn't the latest and greatest offering, that would be the Drive 4GX. I was initially drawn to the 4GX plus RV essentials kit which retails for $619.99. The Drive 4GX by itself sells for $479 and the 4GM for $379. I purchased the Drive 4GM from Amazon Warehouse Deals (technically used) for $273. Both the 4GM and 4GX are rated to boost cell signal by up to 50 db. The difference being the 4GX is supposed to be twice as powerful...

Re: LPG Tank Check

R&V Spiker ·
These monitors y'all have seem to be much more accurate than the push pen device. I even gave thought towards getting one but decided instead to buy two new 5 gallon tanks with mechanical tank level from Costco, $24.97 ea. With the auto switching device on the regulator and having a pretty good idea as to when to look at the tank gauges which is VERY infrequently I might add, I'm good and don't have to worry about replacing batteries and the like. Those devices are pretty cool though...

TireMinder Smart TPMS - Smartphone Based Tire Pressure Monitor for RVs

Red Barchetta ·
http://www.minderresearch.com/...ure-monitor-for-rvs/ Our last TPMS (by TST) which we used for the past few years completely failed us last month so it's time to give another one a try. Having a single-axle trailer we realize the many benefits in monitoring the pressure & temperature of the TT's 2 tires as well as the main spare tire and a 2nd extreme emergency spare tire that is for trips that are more than a few hours from home (it will stay home for local trips). The main spare tire...

Re: Adco tyvek cover review

When we had a popup, we kept it covered. We had Adco, and some other brand I can't remember. 2-3 years was all we got out of them even with patching them. One no-name lasted 3 months and literally fell apart. We got a refund and bought an Adco. We decided that even though we like to protect the finish, on a cost/year basis and the fact that it is kind of a PITA to uncover and recover it every time we use it, we decided to not cover our Lance. We'll see in a few years whether we think we were...

Re: Smarter Tools 2000iQ Generator

ct0218 ·
The problem with using ethanol enriched fuel in small engines is the fuel does not cycle through like it does in a motor vehicle. That fuel can sit in any small engine for months, and some are designed with alcohol proof hoses and tubing and some are not. The biggest problem with the ethanol enriched fuel is phase separation, where the alcohol breaks down and attracts water vapor and moisture, and you end up with a slug of water on the bottom of the tank, carburetor, fuel lines, etc., and...

I have a similar one to Gus and BMJ. It's a craftsman brand with an AGM battery and smart charger. I made a pair of custom 'jumper' cables for it: one set connects directly to the motor on the slide and one directly to the motor of the canopy; just in case... John
