Re: 2014 Pismo Beach Rally - 4/3/2014 - 4/8/2014
Hi Engunir, The rally will probably only have Lance owners and anyone else who is interested in Lance are always welcome to stop by or camp with us! We don't have any vendors scheduled, but they're always welcome. Our knowledge base is pretty experienced, so if you or any attendees have any questions we are always there to answer any questions. To date, we have a whale watching trip planned and then there are always wine tasting trips, potluck dinners and such. We also plan on driving at...

Re: Honda EU2000i Generator Review
Recently purchased a Hutch Mountain propane conversion kit for one of our two Honda gens. Anxious to install and gauge performance. Used one of two gens during a trip to Grand Canyon this past summer. Camping at higher elevations we found we did not need the 2nd gen since no A/C was necessary. We also use our gens as backup power for our home. We can run critical home circuits on one gen. Being able to tap into our 400 gallon propane heating supply makes this very handy for extended power...

Advanced Elements Lagoon 2 inflatable recreational tandem kayak
We've hemmed and hawed for 7 years or so on getting a kayak. Hard shell? Sit-on-top? Inflatable? Transporting? Solo or tandem? ?? We've rented at least 20 kayaks over the years and still couldn't make up our minds. In fact GRUMPA, BMJ, myself, and a few others have gone around and around about the subject here on LOA for 4 or 5 years. GRUMPA & BMJ both bought inflatables - Sea Eagle's (sweet kayaks!) - while we kept languishing over the choices and our needs. Well, we finally decided to...

VIAIR 400P Automatic Function Portable Compressor
After experiencing my first tire blow out which caused $4500 in damage to my truck, I was in a fairly emotional state and willing to spend some money. During the process of changing to my under inflated spare, I discovered my current tire inflator was inadequate. I went shopping for a better one and decided on the VIAIR 400P Automatic. Automatic meaning it has a pressure switch and shuts itself off after the air hose is pressurized. The unit comes with a coiled air hose, a nice tire inflator...

WeBoost (Wilson Electronics) Drive 4GM Cell Signal Booster
I recently aquired a WeBoost Drive 4GM cell signal booster. The 4GM isn't the latest and greatest offering, that would be the Drive 4GX. I was initially drawn to the 4GX plus RV essentials kit which retails for $619.99. The Drive 4GX by itself sells for $479 and the 4GM for $379. I purchased the Drive 4GM from Amazon Warehouse Deals (technically used) for $273. Both the 4GM and 4GX are rated to boost cell signal by up to 50 db. The difference being the 4GX is supposed to be twice as powerful...

Chemical Guys - TORQ Foam Cannon & Honeydew Snow Foam Wash
How It Works: Professional detailers and hardcore enthusiasts wash dirt from cars as gently as possible. The wrong touch pushes dirt around and grinds ugly scratches and swirls into the shiny finish. The TORQ Professional Foam Cannon Snow Foamer adds a blanket of super-slick and slippery car wash suds to lubricate any abrasive dirt particles. Prepare the TORQ Foam Cannon by filling the soap solution tank with water, then add 1-3 ounces of your favorite Chemical Guys car wash soap. Gently...

I also added a Tire Plug Kit to my Viair bag. If I have to, I can plug it, then fill up the tire.

Originally Posted by gkas: I also added a Tire Plug Kit to my Viair bag. If I have to, I can plug it, then fill up the tire. Oh yeah. I can't remember the last time I had to put on a spare. Just plug the tire while it's still on your rig, inflate, and go. Pretty standard repair here in Alaska, and for good reason. It works well. A plug kit isn't likely to cost you as much as a single tire repair in a shop, yet it's good for many repairs. Replacement plugs and cement are even cheaper and...

Re: VIAIR 88P Portable Air Compressor
Glad you had some good response. We, too, have the Viair 88P based on LOA recommendations. Just had to use it twice in the last couple of weeks on the TV (in the garage, not on the road!--due to tire installer error) and it worked great and faster than I thought it would. Also carry, but not yet needed, plug kit. Happy Trails.

Big E's List Of Recommended Camping Stuff
I thought I would make a list of stuff, products that have worked well for us. Some of the items are fan favorites, tried and true and widely used and accepted across the LOA spectrum of members. Others are little known, sleeper products if you will. Some have been passionately debated and others, not so much. Hope this list can be of use to somebody. To start things off simple, toilet paper. White Cloud Green Earth available at Wal Mart. Broke down more quickly than every other TP I tested,...

Re: Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575
Jeff, excellent write up. I look forward to hearing the results from your upcoming trip. I will also add, I really wish the holes were already there on my overload springs. The kit came with 4 drill bits. It took 3 of them to get the holes drilled........

Re: Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575
Thanks Erick! The trip is in 10 days. I will definitely be giving these a solid test & a thorough review. All - Erick is referring above to springs that don't have factory stops (& holes) on the ends of the springs. Torklift has a kit for that. However, it sounds like drilling the holes isn't as quick and easy as Torklift makes it sound. Here is the kit - StableLoad Quick Disconnect (Lower Overload) Part #A7311 (With drill kit) - http://www.torklift.com/index....stableload#drilltool

Re: Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575
Jeff, excellent write up and thanks for the photos. After looking at the two vids you posted regarding drilling the overload spring, I went out and checked what was underneath the Tundra. It will be interesting to see how they have engineered the kit for this truck as the overload spring rides against the main spring pack when the truck is in an unloaded state. Also, that overload spring is 5/8" thick! I guess I'll just have to wait and see what arrives. Here's a photo of my spring pack

Winegard G2 Portable Satellite Dish
It's all that and a bag of chips! It is compatible with Dish (in HiDef) DirecTV (Standard Def only) and Canada's Bell. Set up is a breeze, just hook up the RG6 cable to the little inlet on the side of the RV, and hook it in a 12v outlet, or do what I did and buy the 12v to 110 converter. Put the satellite dish somewhere you can get a clear view of the southern shy and you're good to go. Inside wiring is easy. If you want Dish Network HDMI, just hook the box into the TV using the extra HDMI...

Absolutely most handy tool in my tool box
A simple tool I have used for over 20 years that should be in everyone's water supply tool kit. I have primarily used this to transfer water from my 55gal water drums to my cistern at my cabin, but have also used it to pull water from stream/river pools and lake water to use for boiling wash water. If you don't have one, I highly recommend spending a couple bucks and just toss it in the "I'll be glad I have it when I need it" stack of stuff. It's one of those simple things you hope the guy...

Micro-Air Easy Start--install and 2000 watt Generator
Received and installed a Micro-Air Easy Start 364 today. It took me about 45-50 minutes from unpacking to completion—before the Micro-Air learning cycles. Our Yamaha 2000i started the Coleman 13,500 right away and ran fine. We’re at about 5700 ft. Thanks to Micro-Air and the others on LOA who led the way and inspired me. Micro-Air installation instructions (the guide on their web site) are excellent and having their installation kit was convenient. We have rarely used air and often don’t...
