Re: Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575

Frank 2285 ·
Torklift knows that I have them, as does Roger (Logboy). We were testers for them years ago. They didn't have a dealer network that knew how to install them back then. Sheryl knows about my install, and the dealer problems we had. I am moving up to 3 fingers because I have a little more rear end drop than I should with just 2 blades installed. The original installer didn't really know what he was doing, and I knew even less, so he set me up with 2. I'm going to try 3 and see how I like it.

Winegard G2 Portable Satellite Dish

WoodGlue ·
It's all that and a bag of chips! It is compatible with Dish (in HiDef) DirecTV (Standard Def only) and Canada's Bell. Set up is a breeze, just hook up the RG6 cable to the little inlet on the side of the RV, and hook it in a 12v outlet, or do what I did and buy the 12v to 110 converter. Put the satellite dish somewhere you can get a clear view of the southern shy and you're good to go. Inside wiring is easy. If you want Dish Network HDMI, just hook the box into the TV using the extra HDMI...

king VQ4500 Tailgater for Dish Network with Wally Recevier

HavaBrew22 ·
I get asked about my satellite dish all the time when people see the Tailgater. I have the King VQ4500 Tailgater for Dish Network on my 2185. It is HD and I'm already a Dish customer so it added $9.95 to my monthly bill. I purchased the Dish Wally HD receiver which fits perfect on my TV shelf in the trailer. The set up is a breeze. Point the Tailgater to the south, plug in the coax to the Tailgater and the receiver, then HDMI to the TV and power it on. The receiver will walk you through the...

Re: Sandisk Cruzer Glide 64GB USB Drive

I (S) am not at all a fan of cloud based storage, especially, because a lot of the time we are not in places where cloud based storage is accessible. Big fan of store it locally, at least twice. Technically, storing stuff on a thumb drive like this is a good first plan. It gives you options that are not obviously available on a Mac or a PC. But like DMC says, don't rely on it to be perfect. Store those unforgettable images somewhere else as well. Then you will be as cool as cool can be. For...

I had hoped the Cromecast would work but I am unable to work it. It needs a network. Anyone have an idea?

Re: Access To Spare Tire made Easy (Magic Creeper)

This is where I do my occasional pitch for a Personal Locator Device. These devices send a signal, via a satellite network, to a global emergency center which contacts local authorities. It is the same system used by shipping and airlines. The system can locate you within a meter of where you are and will also track you if you are on the move. There are all sorts of models and subscription plans. Lestie and I have The Spot. It is pretty basic and the satellite subscription can be deactivated...

Re: weBoost Drive Reach RV — Your Thoughts?

Randy G ·
Question on WeBoost performance: I'm planning on using this for zoom calls from State Parks. I'm going to need at least 1.5Mbps to host effective meetings. Has anyone checked their network speeds with and without the WeBoost? Obviously this question is totally location dependent, but I'm wondering if anyone has done any network speed comparisons with and without the WeBoost

Ring Video Doorbell and Alarm Systems

Peaceful Hikes NJ ·
Ring products are becoming more prevalent for home protection. While I use them, I am not a Ring spokesperson or rep, in any way. I buy what I use. I've have two security systems for my home, ADT (traditional) and Ring (video). But it is the Ring system that I am adapting to my Lance 1685, as I had some extra Ring products, because of upgrades. Right now, I have just the Ring Video Doorbell (Second Generation), which operates on battery and solar, on my trailer. The pros of such a system is...

Re: 2013 Lance 2385

KS Farm Girl ·
Our 1885 is listed as a 2014, but was built in 2013. Our slide very likely is the same as your 2385. What are you needing to know? We did have to have the slide bolted into the wall as it had an issue with the frame pulling away from the outer wall. We did lighten the load in the drawers to less than 50 lbs each, which is what Lance recommends, this includes the outer storage area. Otherwise, we haven't had problems with it. Attached is Lance's 2013 brochure that may give you some info.

Re: Soft Start for Generator

Doug, aka Atchafalaya Man ·
If one wants want a generator to run an air conditioner (or a microwave oven), they'll learn that air conditioners and microwaves widely vary as to their power requirements, even within varying AC / MW models of the same brand. It would be disappointing to choose a slightly-incapable-generator to power a slightly-too-large appliance. Historically, Honda started the 2000 watt generator craze with a 98 cc engine model (now updated to 121 ccs). Yamaha soon competed with their 79 cc model.

Re: VictronConnect Update 5.73

fpmtngal ·
Very cool! In some ways it’s a little thing, but it’s still very cool. The update before this allowed your devices to be grouped together at the top of the screen, which is awesome if you are at a Lance rally where so many of us have Victron equipment. However, I noticed that while my two controllers and battery monitor were grouped together, my inverter is listed as other devices - even though it is connected to my VE.smart network. The other thing - did you check the settings for the BMV...

Re: Is OnStar worth the money

Stretch ·
When we purchased our truck in 2015 they compared on-star to satellite coverage, NOT. It would not work in a remote campground that we frequent but hiking 100’ up an adjacent hill we can get enough cell coverage for texting but not on-star function. We cancelled our subscription and purchased a Garmin Mini which is connected to a real satellite network.

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat

RobertMT ·
Thanks that makes sense, to me. Being able to access it, via hotspot, could be useful. When I had T mobile hotspot, it was for "home" use and "booster" had gps. Do you use yours, on the road, or just at park?

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat

fpmtngal ·
To clarify about the WiFi capabilities: The thermostat has to talk to a WiFi router to be able to use remotely, a source that has to stay in the trailer. To talk to it you can use a device connected to the internet - it doesn’t have to be the same network. So I can have the thermostat connected to my Starlink router and my phone could access it with cellular data through the app. Or if you were at the library using their wifi and your thermostat was connected to Starlink, then you could...
