SlimPort-to-HDMI adapter for mirroring phone on tv
I/we wanted an easy way to mirror my phone ( LG G3 (with unlimited data)) to the TT's tv to watch baseball games (I have an MLB subscription) & watch movies that are stored on my phone or that I have copies of through the Google cloud. So I ordered aSlimPort-to-HDMI adapter: http://www.slimportconnect.com/ I ordered it from Amazon ($31.20 with Amazon Prime): http://www.amazon.com/Official...ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t Here is an updated list of supported phones...

Bruce - That is excellent news. It really looks good on the Jensen too. Cell service and wifi was sketchy at the cg this past weekend so we couldn't watch a game or a movie, but I did have an episode of a cartoon show ("Regular Show" - season 1 was free last week in the Play store) in my phone's memory so our son watched it. Worked & looked great!

Re: WeBoost (Wilson Electronics) Drive 4GM Cell Signal Booster
Looks like this will be very useful to us. Just got back from a few days up by Big Basin, very spotty cell and internet service. My truck has built in WIFI so that helps on that end, but inconvenient having to have the ignition in the Aux position (and the keys in the ignition). Good reception and broadcasts very well from the truck to inside of the trailer, AT&T based, but a bit inconvenient and doesn't really solve the phone issue. I could add a separate phone service to the truck I...

Okie Doke. I installed this today in about 5 minutes. I say installed, but really I just plugged in everything and tried it. I am using the pre-built platform for my WIFI antenna. I have an junction box that was already on my roof from my Solar, so I previously installed two plates to it. Sealed it with sealant, and then would shove my vertical wifi antenna in when not in motion (or when I needed it). I adjusted it by backing out the screws slightly. I bought an L, and an steel electrical...

Ring Video Doorbell and Alarm Systems
Ring products are becoming more prevalent for home protection. While I use them, I am not a Ring spokesperson or rep, in any way. I buy what I use. I've have two security systems for my home, ADT (traditional) and Ring (video). But it is the Ring system that I am adapting to my Lance 1685, as I had some extra Ring products, because of upgrades. Right now, I have just the Ring Video Doorbell (Second Generation), which operates on battery and solar, on my trailer. The pros of such a system is...

Micro-Air EasyTouch Rv Comfort Control
We’re staying at Boyd’s in Key West and found ourselves in the middle of a Airstream rally. Micro-Air was the primary vender and was pretty busy installing the EasyStart on the Shiny Trailers. Since we already have the EasyStart and I am a sucker for a “Rally Discount” I purchased a EasyTouch BT thermostat for our Lance. Yes, I know, a fool and his money are soon departed. However, I hate getting up in the wee hours stumbling over the dog to fiddle with the thermostat. The installation was a...

Re: Is OnStar worth the money
I think it depends on what other plans you have or have access to. We used the very basic onstar wifi service because we are generally luddites and do not have data plans or even cell phones. The basic plan was ok and we used it on a number of trips. The ‘full meal deal’ was way more than we would ever use and seemed to me to be a lesser version of what we could have through apps etc. if we were interested in all that stuff.

MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat
Today I received and installed a MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat and thought I would write up some information about it. It has a lot of nice features - it combines some of the features of smart home thermostats with systems/needs for RVs. Some of the specific RV needs - my trailer came with a Coleman-Mach Quiet series air conditioner with a heat strip, so the OEM thermostat has a setting for electric heat (the heat strip) or gas heat (the Dometic furnace). The MicroAir thermostat keeps...

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat
Why don’t you also look at the Coleman-Mach Quiet series of air conditioners? I put a 13.5K NDQ (non-ducted quiet) AC into the 1685. At the time I didn’t think the thermostat in my 2016 trailer would be able to deal with a heat strip, so didn’t pursue that, don’t know whether it could be added to one of their NDQ units. A quick search of their website shows there is a lot less information than there had been before. They’ve also added a power saver NDQ model - that would have been perfect...

Really?! Now that might be worth pursuing. For my use, a power saver A/C is a must and has been the main reason I never switched to the NDQ. Thanks for the heads up.

Will do, as we speak we are still being lazy, been up for a while, but still enjoying morning coffee in bed, Teddy is right here with us hugging his new favorite - a stuffed turtle. Cool and windy day here, but I need to get started on some plumbing repairs in the trailer that I'm in the middle of.

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat
Very interesting Harriet, thanks for the report. This looks very interesting - I keep looking at replacing my noisy AC, the current contender is one of the Houghton Rec-Pro units that doesn't utilize the trailers thermostat which is unfortunate. The wifi capability would be great for Teddy.

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat
Phone connects through the internet. For my test I had WiFi turned off on the phone, so it was accessing the thermostat on the internet, using cell minutes. In your case, you could leave the AC off then when you were getting close to going back, you could turn it back on. That would work with Starlink running all the time for internet purposes for the thermostat and your cell phone having cell service. I have a fairly big battery bank and solar set-up, so I could potentially leave the...

Oops, sorry. We have our three garage doors wifi connected. Primarily for security reasons. I get a notification if any of the three are opened or closed from anywhere in the world I have internet access. If necessary I can let my neighbor in through the garage. Even my truck can be started, locked/unlocked, horn honked, lights flashed from anywhere.

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat
Couple questions. When you say wifi, is that connection to your router and internet (starlink) and your phone? Or is it phone's WiFi (hotspot)? I tried to get cameras, for camper and even though, they ran on WiFi, I needed internet connection, to connect remotely. It would be handy, to adjust temperature, before I got back from fishing or running around, instead of just leaving it run.

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat
Thanks that makes sense, to me. Being able to access it, via hotspot, could be useful. When I had T mobile hotspot, it was for "home" use and "booster" had gps. Do you use yours, on the road, or just at park?

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat
To clarify about the WiFi capabilities: The thermostat has to talk to a WiFi router to be able to use remotely, a source that has to stay in the trailer. To talk to it you can use a device connected to the internet - it doesn’t have to be the same network. So I can have the thermostat connected to my Starlink router and my phone could access it with cellular data through the app. Or if you were at the library using their wifi and your thermostat was connected to Starlink, then you could...

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat
That's more understandable, than way I put it. I've only had one host and couple campers, complain about my leaving AC running, while gone for day. Breaker was off once, when I returned, I wasn't impressed. I also had someone unplug boat charger. Of course nobody knew anything about either.

Re: MicroAir EasyTouch 352 RV Thermostat
Interesting question, Robert. My take is.... Bluetooth has a 30 foot range. A WIFI router has a 100-300 foot range. Thus, the thermostat would have a 30 or 100-300 foot range depending on the choice of mode, BT or WIFI. When Harriet walked through her park, her phone was too far from the thermostat to utilize the 30 foot range of the Bluetooth. So, it had to rely on WIFI. It seems to have either picked up the park's WIFI signal or went to a cellphone tower for her request. Either the...

Re: Starlink Mini
As far which plan to get - it depends on your usage. I think for most people the 50GB for $50 and paying an occasional overage makes the most sense. I have the unlimited roaming plan so could pause it (but I never do). When I saw the limited plan, I went back to see what my usage really was for the past 6 months. I had to go back to April to find a month that was below 200GB, and over the summer I used close to 400GB twice (to be fair, I was sharing with two other people occasionally). So...

Re: Starlink Mini
we've been using a GEN 2 for a couple years. Even if the location we're at has wifi I still set it up, since many locations the wifi is fairly slow. Just recently got a GEN 3 standard. It was easy to do a 12V setup for both. The $150 a month wasn't bad, the now $165 is a little harder to choke down, but it now does allow in motion use, I just have to find a decent mounting system in the bed of the truck. I did a test, under the tonneau cover it still works decently, we don't have a Bakflip...

Re: Starlink Mini
Not that I know of, and if you could somehow lock the pole, that would not stop someone from climbing up to your roof and taking the antenna off the pole. I don’t worry about the Gen 2 or 3 because the antenna won’t work without the matched router, which I keep inside. Someone could grab the antenna but they would also have to break into the trailer to get the router since it won’t work without any other one. I’m not sure that the Mini would be any more usable if stolen - the router...

Re: Starlink Mini
If I understand it correctly, StarLink now offers two roaming plans, $165/mon for unlimited data, and $50/mon for 50 GB download. We’re not heavy users, so I’ll look into the 50 GB plan the next time I fire up Gen 3 Standard. HTH, Jim / crewzer

Re: Starlink Mini
The Starlink Mini came in last Friday and the Flagpole Buddy arrived today. Installed everything this morning. Including the flag pole installation, took about 1 1/2 hour to setup and dial in my account. Connected the RV TV and my phone. Watched a little YouTube before I stopped for the day. Real test will be when we go to Blackwater River State Park in December. Bad cell connections and no WiFi. I ordered the Flagpole Buddy directly from the company. That was probably a minor mistake. I...
