TireMinder Smart TPMS - Smartphone Based Tire Pressure Monitor for RVs
http://www.minderresearch.com/...ure-monitor-for-rvs/ Our last TPMS (by TST) which we used for the past few years completely failed us last month so it's time to give another one a try. Having a single-axle trailer we realize the many benefits in monitoring the pressure & temperature of the TT's 2 tires as well as the main spare tire and a 2nd extreme emergency spare tire that is for trips that are more than a few hours from home (it will stay home for local trips). The main spare tire...

Like I mentioned before, I have the older version of the Tire Minder TPMS, it works fine, but trying to see that small display on the receiving unit is difficult while driving. Might have to buy my own Christmas present this year and upgrade to the new system.

Thanks BMJ. Call Minder Research/Valterra direct - (772) 463-6522. They can customize the order. For example, if you don't have 2 spare tires like I do you can just get 3 sensors & you'll save $40.00+ right away.

Pretty cool, I just set up my old school Tire Minder a couple of weeks ago - thought I was going high tech, but this system is so much nicer.

TPMS installed. Mounted signal booster under battery box and clipped alligator clips to battery posts. If this works I'll connect with a pig tail connection like I use with battery tenders. Consulted w/Minder Research and they agreed w/my booster placement. May rethink and place elsewhere if necessary. Install was very straight forward and all transmitters worked. First trial trip coming up soon, will post again after return. Red, what does K-I-S-S stand for, that one lost me!

Ron - I like your idea for tapping in to the TT's running lights for power to the booster (I too always tow with the lights on so would only be hot while towing). Where the issue in your plan could be is that per Minder Research/Valterra Products you want the weather-proof booster's antenna outside the TT such as mounted to the frame, inside the mounted spare tire, etc... However, I don't think that is truly a serious issue. Since you have the access area and you know you want to splice in...

Re: TireMinder Smart TPMS - Smartphone Based Tire Pressure Monitor for RVs
Thanks, I just read that - hadn't realized the booster was weather-tight. We do need the booster - I'm thinking of trying it inside of that area behind the cover, the only thing blocking the signal would be the front wall that looks to be some sort of fiberglass casting, maybe 3/16" thick. That shouldn't interfere much, but if it does I will mount it just outside of that area, depends on water/mud spray from the truck tires where exactly. If I put it outside I might still put it in a...

Tire Minder Accuracy
Made a quick scan of forums and couldn’t locate this...TM consistently reads 2-3 psi below a known accurate and calibrated. gauge. Is this well-known and just look for major variances for any issues?

Re: Tire Minder Accuracy
Agree, around 3 psi lower on our Minder. As mentioned you become accustomed to it. None the less the Tire Minder system has saved our bacon more than once. Worth mentioning...... be sure you secure/tighten the sensor down after adding air. If not tight enough the valve stem will leak air.

Hey Russell, We have the same Tire Minder smartphone TPMS and tried mounting the booster in the curbside front battery compartment on the front wall. We found that the street side trailer tires randomly kept losing connection. Maybe the lead in the battery was blocking the signal? Moved the booster to the middle the frame member just behind the propane tanks and signal have been solid. Been very pleased with the system. Good luck

Our Minder repeater is mounted in the lower forward nose cone of our 2285. Just inside the driver side storage pass-through door there will be a square panel covering a generously sized hole where one can grab 12V power from the trailer's running lights. I used Velcro to mount it against the back of the nose material. For future-proof troubleshooting purposes I covered the access hole with clear desk/floor protector so I can easily see the green light confirming the repeater is on.

I'm intrigued because I currently have a number of Dewalt tools. My concern would be accessing an inboard dually 19.5 tire.

Re: DeWalt Tire Inflator
Yep, been using one of these for a couple of years now... VERY handy! I like being able to move it around to whatever I'm inflating rather than pulling an air hose to it. I already had multiple other DeWalt 20V tools and batteries so this was a no brainer.

Re: DeWalt Tire Inflator
In addition to using it for filling up tires, it has a high volume mode and hose for filling up inflatables, like inner tubes or kayaks.

Re: DeWalt Tire Inflator
Buckmountain, I have not set a watch to it but it is fairly fast. Less than a minute maybe? I have no idea on the inflatable, I don't own one to try, but I'm sure it's faster than my lungs! I also learned that one of the attachments it comes with is for presto tire valves for bikes (which I do own). Nice, but it's a pain to use so I have ordered a better attachment.

Re: DeWalt Tire Inflator
Mike, I haven't timed either, but if I were to guess, getting the trailer tires from 60 to 65 is about 15 - 20 seconds. Inflating our two-person kayak (upper and lower sections) takes maybe 90 seconds each. I couldn't find any duty cycle information in the manual (other than if PSI > 100, then only run for 10 min), but based on our needs, it doesn't seem like we have to worry about any duty cycle. My only "complaint" is that it is loud, but I think most of these devices are. It's great...

My Makita adds 10PSI in about 20 seconds. I used the Makita to purge all the water lines before freeze up arrives. Works very well. I think all major power tool Mfg’s make a portable compressor.

Re: DeWalt Tire Inflator
So how long does it take for this compact tool to add 5 to 10 lbs. at 60+ psi? Or to fill up an inflatable? Sounds like a great idea if it's fairly efficient. Mike

Thank you! Haven't pulled the trigger yet but soon. All my stuff is 18 or 20 volt Dewalt. Make good use of the 18 to 20 volt adapter.

I’ve been considering one of these as well. I’ll likely see what I can find by Milwaukee ‘cause that’s how I roll. I’ve heard lots of good on the Dewalt unit though.

Re: DeWalt Tire Inflator
Yup, Dewalt, Milwaukee, Ryobi and others. I think many make pretty good stuff.

Re: DeWalt Tire Inflator
I have the DeWalt tire inflator too. It's great if you are already using their 20V system and runs a long time on even a tiny 2Ah battery pack. I also use it to inflate pool toys and it works on an inflatable kayak too. It doesn't move a massive amount of air so I find it a bit slow for big truck tires but it works great for trailer tires. I always carry it with me whenever we tow.

I added the 18V Ryobi Inflater/Deflater to my collection. An end of season Tool-Only $23 Home Depot close out. My Ryobi Driver/Drill, Impact Driver, Hand Vac and Inflater/Deflater travel with us and they all use the same 18V Lithium batteries and I have a spare charger for them that also travels along. For economy tools Ryobi has served me well as my reliable go-to brand for years.

I have been looking at this inflator for a while, it came up on Amazon for $99 around black friday so I finally splurged. I have an excellent Viair compressor that I carry, but this Dewalt is so convenient I might start leaving the Viair at home. This is a great tool.

My battery powered tools are Black and Decker and I have their version of a tire inflator. I'm sure they're all mostly about the same but I'm really happy with mine. I'm much better about checking my tire pressure when I can conveniently do it at the campsite instead of having to make an extra stop somewhere.

Re: DeWalt Tire Inflator
When I originally posted this my only negative comment was the presto attachment that came with the inflator was a bit on the sketchy side because it could easily remove the entire valve core by accident. Obviously not a good thing. The below attachment from Amazon will fix that issue by providing a press on attachment. Works great. A bit pricy at $29 but worth the expense if you check your tires daily on bike rides. Check out the Inflator attachment on Amazon

DeWalt Tire Inflator
I purchased this for two reasons. I have noticed my brand new TT (1985) has a very very slow leak on one tire. I have a standard air compressor at home, but I'm always afraid at a campground I'll be below the safety margin and have to find a fuel station with a hose I can easily maneuver to. This was a bare tool only model, no battery. That's OK because all my tools are DeWalt already and I have plenty of batteries. This now rounds out the tools I carry in the TT. Impact Hammer Drill, Impact...

I use the Milwaukee 18 volt tools. When I needed new batteries, I stopped at a Home Depot Wilwaukee sale, bought the batteries and got a free inflator. It works great and isn't too heavy. Beats the heck out of maneuvering my trailer up to an air station at Costco or a gas station. The Presta attachment works fine on my bikes too.

We have Ryobi tools at home and I love our inflator, though they keep redesigning it. Would not travel without it. At work (I work at a Museum) we have DeWalt and I am getting this inflator for our new custom Mack MD6 box truck we just picked up.
