Dish drying mat for flip-up counter extension
We have and use 2 large drying mats at home and really like them. On our current trip we found the perfect size for our counter extension. It was $8.00 at a local backpacking store. My wife modified it by sewing 2 small pieces of Velcro so that it doesn't blow off the screened side of the door handle when drying or fall off while in transit. It's not as thick as our mats at home, but is perfect for camping. Like ours at home it is washable. Here are a few shots as well as a screenshot of a...

Re: king VQ4500 Tailgater for Dish Network with Wally Recevier
I have the same dish but the older receiver. Rain kills mine. We use it at home as well. We just put the dish on the patio and move the receiver inside. My biggest complaint is rain. Maybe the new Wally receiver solved this. How long have you been using this setup and have you watched tv during rain?

Re: king VQ4500 Tailgater for Dish Network with Wally Recevier
I'm just asking... but wouldn't this be more of an antenna (dish) issue than a receiver issue? Joe

I think Joe is right. CORBIN have you checked the casing on your Tailgater for cracks or leaks? Do you have the rounded top Tailgater or the diamond shaped?

Joe and Havabrew. Yes it's shouldn't be the receiver. I've cleaned the Dish plastic and even waxed it. Rain kills it and I don't see any cracks. I guess the problem with owning the equipment, you can't send it back and get a new one (after warranty). Well, I guess if I'm the only one having this issue, it's my Tailgater.

Sorry to hear that your Tailgater is having issues in the rain. I hope you don't live or camp in the pacific northwest. I live and camp mostly in sunny SoCal, so rain is rarely an issue. Happy camping!

Here’s a picture of the satellite dish on top of my trailer.

Yes, here’s the Directv link. You have to go thru one of their vendors, not sure if you can just add it to your home account. Equipment looks to be more expensive than Dish and you may have to lease the receiver vs. owning the Dish Receiver. The other disadvantage with Directv is their RV satellite dishes only get SD signals, Dish gets both SD and HD. https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP...jsp?assetId=P6730097

Also, DirectTV will be discontinuing all SD service in February 2019. I’m not sure what all the current owners of the SD equipment are going to do but I imagine they will be switching to Dish.

Winegard G2 Portable Satellite Dish
It's all that and a bag of chips! It is compatible with Dish (in HiDef) DirecTV (Standard Def only) and Canada's Bell. Set up is a breeze, just hook up the RG6 cable to the little inlet on the side of the RV, and hook it in a 12v outlet, or do what I did and buy the 12v to 110 converter. Put the satellite dish somewhere you can get a clear view of the southern shy and you're good to go. Inside wiring is easy. If you want Dish Network HDMI, just hook the box into the TV using the extra HDMI...

king VQ4500 Tailgater for Dish Network with Wally Recevier
I get asked about my satellite dish all the time when people see the Tailgater. I have the King VQ4500 Tailgater for Dish Network on my 2185. It is HD and I'm already a Dish customer so it added $9.95 to my monthly bill. I purchased the Dish Wally HD receiver which fits perfect on my TV shelf in the trailer. The set up is a breeze. Point the Tailgater to the south, plug in the coax to the Tailgater and the receiver, then HDMI to the TV and power it on. The receiver will walk you through the...

Re: Smarter Tools 2000iQ Generator
Lee-Ann: Somewhere in here you were pondering about running the air conditioner using the camper's batteries. I didn't notice if anyone answered you. Running the A/C with the camper batteries is just not going to happen. Sure, the possibility is there, but you'd only run it for a few minutes before they were drained. As for running a microwave, the camper batteries will do that better, but still it's only for a small amount of usage, such as heating up something. Cooking a whole dish would...

Re: Winegard G2 Portable Satellite Dish
I love mine too. I have the 110 volt adapter as well. I also store it under the bed when I'm traveling. I have DirecTV, so it's not high def., but I think the picture is quite good. I had the roof mounted automatic dish on the three motorhomes I had previously. Spent about $2500 each time and they work well, but if my camping site was in the trees, I was out of luck. I love that I can move the G2 around and find a spot with reception. A much cheaper solution that works.

Re: Big E's List Of Recommended Camping Stuff
Nice starting list. reminds me i need a tps system, victron and grill... I never even thought to look at non "rv" toilet paper. I might have to give that one a go. I have the dominator hose as well (only 1 10' section though) and like it. never tried the camco rhinoflex. for our blue tank stuff we found some drop-ins, basically packets of concentrated stuff similar to the ones for washing machines or dish washers. it's more $ per dose but takes up less space and no need to measure. Got it at...

Re: WeBoost (Wilson Electronics) Drive 4GM Cell Signal Booster
I've been curious about a cell booster for a while, even considering making one myself with an old sat dish (directional) versus a non-directional like you did here. This further pushes me that route, but I don't think I'll be doing anything quite yet. After dropping Sprint, my signal has already gone up But I would be curious if the residential version would actually be better for our application. Leemom, if internet is something you require when you go FT, I would consider Hughesnet. It's...

Jackalope, Please accept my apology for not seeing your post earlier. I have watched the 1st Annual Great Plains Gathering thread daily, but have forgotten to watch this one. Most of the activity is on that thread. Anyway, I am glad you were able to snag that spot, and I'm looking forward to seeing you there. You may want to read what is on that thread if you have the time. It is quite lengthy. Here is a recap of the events and instructions. It's fairly loosely organized. Thursday Sept. 21:...

Re: Roof cleaner for my 1985
There are not exactly the same. But typically, both recommend the same type of cleaners and treatment solutions. If your roof is just slightly dirty, Dawn dish detergent works well and is safe. If you have some stubborn stains, something stronger is required. See my note above for something I found that works really well. The Starbrite Extreme Clean product is safe for all membrane roofs (IMO)
