Every Summer, the Mosquitos come out and can ruin an outdoor outing or camping trip. Our house backs up to a Meadow that is occasionally flooded for the waterfowl and this year the city has been slow to act with the abatement meaning it's been difficult to sit out back and enjoy the ambience. After reading lots of info on the various repellants and the chemicals used, one thing for sure is to stay away from any product containing Deet. There have even been reports on this forum detailing how their Leatherette dinette seat cushions suffered irreparable damage due to Deet laced repellants. There is a better alternative, Picaridin.
So after all the research, off to Amazon I went and ordered this;
We ordered the pump spray 2 pack (1 for the house, 1 for the trailer) and may go back and order the spray as the pump spray is a bit difficult to use.
Last evening, after 3 beers, I got my bravado up and applied the repellent to all exposed body parts before heading down the trail around sunset, prime time for those little biters. I must tell you, it was a bit unnerving to feel them trying to light on my skin but they never stayed. By the time I was heading back, I had a swarm of about 50 Mosquitos buzzing around me and in the end, only one successfully got some blood, a pretty darned good result considering the swarm. Not many of you would even think of trying what I did but the main takeaway is that this stuff works and works quite well.
So bottom line is...this repellant comes highly recommended. Enjoy your Summer...outdoors again.
