We took a little ride to the Rim today, got some great photos! Although the Aspen CG is closed, the trails are open and we hiked around CG and Lake. Lots of fishing going on today! Not sure if anyone caught any. Ran into a small herd of young elk, the girls had fun. Our campsites look great! Lots of shade! Here’s a few pics of our view.

Nice photos Gene.... usually there is a lot more snow than that, I hope they get a lot more before winter closes out or else it will be bone dry come June!

Go to this website that has a map of the other camps in the area. While its not with the group its not that far to drive over and spend the days and evenings. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recare...d=80835&actid=29 This is a list of the other nearby camps which are on the map. Sinkhole - Rim - Spillway - Mogollon - Crook In addition there are many areas where you can camp in a "Dispersed" area for free. Contact me if you want or need more information.

I live in Payson AZ . Just drove my Jeep up to woods canyon and willow lake and drove the 300 rim road yesterday. Everything is pretty dry . Here’s what’s happening locally http://www.paysonroundup.com/n...2b-5a7c6a793fe5.html Woods canyon and willow lakes area remains open. Enforcement is strict on fire restrictions.

Thanks to Galvanizd for posting this. We have found that during fire restriction times we were still able to use our portable fire pit with lava rock and propane. Not sure if that will be allowed given the extreme dry conditions right now. Hope for rain before June 6-12 rolls around. Really looking forward to meeting everyone! We would like to plan a nightly happy hour at 5:30pm, at out site 117. This gives everyone time to eat then come relax for an hour or two with their favorite beverage.

FYI there is a significant gain in elevation 2610 ft. between Payson at 4890 ft. and Aspen Camp at 7500 ft. You will know that as you chug up that last hill to reach the top of the rim. It will be a lot cooler than Yuma Sgt.

I just got off of the phone with the lady in charge of campgrounds on the rim . I was moving Sunday night over to Black Canyon rim campground for my wife to hopefully see the wild horse herd that lives near there . She called to let me know that its now closed and was able to get me into another campground for Sunday . Anyway I asked about Aspen campground and she said they do not foresee having to close it . There is currently no fires threatening that area .

Re: LPG Tank Check

BobnRobin ·
If you contact the "Tank Check" manufacturer they will send you 8 metal standoffs for your tanks. They are aluminum and you have to tap them on to the bottom rim of your tanks. I think they will holdup much better than the original rubber ones. Happy Campers BobnRobin

@Skimr et al, the system is fairy simple to set up an use. There is a locking nut that keeps the sensor in place and rubber boot to cover the sensor. I have about 300 mi on the sensors. There is no signs of the sensors rubbing/contacting the wheel rim and I am using rubber stems. The tires do not seem to have increased in leakage with the sensors.

Having used both the flow-thru and now the cap sensors, I can tell you that the caps are much easier to use. The air flow through the flow-thru was seemingly obstructed and was very slow at accepting air. They stuck out beyond the rim too which meant I had to be very careful not to park to close to a curb or risk breaking off the sensor causing a rapid deflation event. The way I look at it is...with either sensor, the cap must be removed to inflate a tire so why have sensors that require...

Re: Another Andersen WDH review

DNARV ·
Yup, echoing @henrypretz and @KeithS on high winds, when the meteor crater rim walk ~Winslow AZ was closed because of 50++mph winds our Andersen hitch handled trailer extremely well, even with big rigs passing us at 70mph. That windy spring weather was with us into NM and TX. Nary a problem with crosswinds.
