Re: Absolutely most handy tool in my tool box

It will not siphon uphill. Like any siphon, it needs to be lower than liquid being siphoned. I used it with a 7 gal water container shown here when my back went out and I could not lift it. I use it all the time to empty a 55 gal drum of water into my cabin cistern in about 10 minutes. when I draw water out of the stream, I find a place that is at least level with the water and have no problems pulling it. I have also used it to siphon gasoline from my truck to a container for my lawn mower.

Re: VIAIR 400P Automatic Function Portable Compressor

Loren Jones ·
Erick, Great write up on the ViaAir I have been looking at this ViaAir 400P for sometime for my 2013 truck. I have an ExtremeAire compressor that I installed in 2004 that is been flawless in my 1999 Truck. I went through several smaller (read as broke) units before installing the ExtremeAire. I am wondering if anybody has used one of these ViaAir products over a say 10 year period and how has it held up? The downside of the ExtremeAire is the amount of power it draws and associated $$.

That's not a bad idea Don. I thought about hooking it to the trailer batteries but am concerned a prolonged, high amp draw wouldn't be good for my AGMs, especially if boondocking. Those extension hoses aren't that expensive either.

Re: Torklift Lower StableLoads on a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a Lance 1575

170 mile test drive with no load and the StableLoads engaged - We had to be down in the Oakland/Berkeley area yesterday so we took the truck as it was a perfect opportunity to drive the truck unloaded and the StableLoads engaged (Oakland has horrendous roads (especially the coliseum/arena/airport area)). As I/we figured, the truck definitely rides stiffer. It's not horrible, but you absolutely know when you're going over pot holes, speed bumps, etc... Again not terrible, but also not the...

Re: Mr. Heater Portable Buddy LP heater (supplemental while awake heat)

Red Barchetta ·
LJJ - Of course we all use our furnaces, but the Portable Buddy (or Little Buddy in Kent's case) comes in handy while dry camping &/or boondocking as far and away the number 1 power draw is the furnace fan. Not to mention the furnace is noisy while watching a movie, playing a game, or someone is trying to sleep in.

I do agree there are times where the Buddy comes in handy, however, because of the moisture that the unit produces and the headaches I get when I use the device for extended periods of time, I only use it when I am very low on LP, or during an emergency. I personally don't like to use the Portable Buddy in general use. Just me. I don't know if I get a headache because I think I should or because there is a justifiable cause.
