Jeff, the overload spring is the one with the tapered ends and is not inside the spring bracket. At least it appears to be the overload spring. Again, that leaf is super thick.

Great writeup. I didn't know that Rams have rear coils. I think the major issue with that design is there is no overload leaf so heavy payloads would be really problematic.
