Re: Informal Lance Get Together at Woods Canyon Lake AZ "Aspen Campground" - June 2018

Rob Monsipapa ·
We are going unless the forest gets shut down, at this point it doesn’t look likely but if there is another big fire in the area between now and then it could change. Everyone that’s going, please keep an eye on this page. I’ll post an update just before we head up on Wednesday afternoon or if anything changes that could impact this trip. I’ll post my phone here so if you want to call before you head out that’s cool with me. We will be keeping tabs on the Forest Service for all updates. Rob...

Re: Nature's Head Composting Toilet

kaypee ·
I have full documentation of my installation here: https://community.lanceowners.org/top...-toilet-installation I'm not sure if any fastener sizes have changed from the 2014 model. And if your black tank vent is in a different location that would impact the installation as well. I am well into my second camping season with the toilet and am still completely satisfied with it.

Re: Better Living Liquid Soap Dispenser

I really like that soaps are relatively stationary....the bottles don't get in the way. However, there are many times that we shower in the campground facilities instead of the TT.......so I still need bottles for those treks. Otherwise, I would be all over this. I think it looks good. One of my thoughts concerning the thickness of the shower wall is to not fill the containers completely so they don't have to carry the weight. I agree, in my logic, the button that gets pressed in sounds like...

Re: Smarter Tools 2000iQ Generator

BrianP ·
BigE, that's great that only one 2000iQ will run your A/C at 2600'! However, as you point out, altitude will impact it. While the specifics depend on engine type (2 cycle vs 4 cycle) and carburated vs fuel injected, a rough figure is about 3% power loss per 1000 ft elevation from sea level. It isn't exactly linear at lower altitudes, but when you get up to 6000-7000 ft, it is very noticeable. For example, my 2000iQ runs my 900W microwave (that's output in the microwave; the input power is...

Re: Why you want the Honda EU2200i Companion

The receptacles are 20 amp. Page 12 of the manual.(or look at the plug-NEMA 20 amp ) No need for the companion unless you are paralleling 2 generators or like the twistlok 30 amp plug.

Re: Trailer-Aid "Plus" Tandem Tire Changing Ramp

BrianJ ·
Well, thanks to Havabrew22 I purchased this for our Lance. 400 miles into our first trip with our new Lance we picked up a nail and as we were pulling into our site watched the tire go completely flat. This ramp along with my 12v impact made the tire change a ten minute job. Sadly the Goodyear Endurance Tire was kaput from a 1 inch finishing nail that entered too close to the tread crown to be repaired. This is an easy peasy tool that has a permanent spot on the Lance. I had considered...

Re: 2013 Lance 2385

KS Farm Girl ·
Our 1885 is listed as a 2014, but was built in 2013. Our slide very likely is the same as your 2385. What are you needing to know? We did have to have the slide bolted into the wall as it had an issue with the frame pulling away from the outer wall. We did lighten the load in the drawers to less than 50 lbs each, which is what Lance recommends, this includes the outer storage area. Otherwise, we haven't had problems with it. Attached is Lance's 2013 brochure that may give you some info.

Dewalt Impact Wrench - Cordless

Eric Dye ·
Hi All, I recently bought a cordless impact wrench to carry on the road. I wanted a tool that could remove the lugs from the trailer, which many cheaper ones can do, but I also wanted one to remove the lugs from my tow vehicle. I decided on this one... Dewalt DCF891B and omg am I impressed. I already have many other dewalt tools that have compatible batteries. But I also have Milwaukie and Ryobi too so those were in the running. I highly recommend this tool if you need a cordless impact.

The Dewalt 1/4" impact driver is a big performer too in a much smaller chassis. You can loosen your lug nuts the old fashion way and finish them off lickety split, and final torquing should be done with a torque wrench anyway. If I didn't have a full set of high end air tools I would definitely go electric nowadays, but not sure I would lug that monster on the road. Regardless, the 20V XR system is first rate!

Unfortunately many users of these tools use them to raise and lower their stabilizer jacks. Nothing more irritating than someone coming in to a campground after 10pm or leaving at 0'dark thirty and they use an impact tool to wake up the campground to do their stabilizers. Other than that it's a very good tool.

I wholeheartedly agree! Listened to a trailer leaving this morning using a driver instead of a drill. I have a 3/4 socket and use my drill. So much quieter. I have a heavy duty Makita I use for lug nuts. Since my other cordless are Makita it was a no brainer. It's a beast. Love it. Same batteries for my cordless vac also. Very handy.

I added the 18V Ryobi Inflater/Deflater to my collection. An end of season Tool-Only $23 Home Depot close out. My Ryobi Driver/Drill, Impact Driver, Hand Vac and Inflater/Deflater travel with us and they all use the same 18V Lithium batteries and I have a spare charger for them that also travels along. For economy tools Ryobi has served me well as my reliable go-to brand for years.

Agree! Really don’t understand why people would use an impact wrench, especially on stabilizers. I use a Ryobi 18V driver/drill at low speed. It’s quiet, fast and I can set the quiet torque release to prevent it twisting a wrist at the retraction limit if I’m not paying attention. On extension you’re over-extending if you need to torque the stabilizers…

3yrs ago I saw something on the side of the freeway light traffic so I pulled over and walked back. It was a 3/8 20v impact driver no battery I looked up and down the side and seen it 100ft away. Walked over and picked it up plugged in and it worked. It cost me $30 for a Dewalt charger not a bad deal.
