I can't answer for anyone else, but I put 3000w in mine because it CAN run the AC, and has a bit of headroom leftover for a knicknack or two (like a desk fan, which does a good job circulating that cool air). Not for long (I "only" have 400ah of battery), but there have been times it's paid off. If I pull into a rest stop for a break and the trailer is sweltering, I can kick on the AC for some relief while I rest and get a snack. Or at a Harvest Host and I just want to run it for a bit...

@Crewzer and @Nutman , It's interesting to read your takes on portable battery power stations. Hopefully others with similar needs may consider it as an option. I hope you don't mind me chiming to tell our story. Would I prefer to have Lithium batteries, a solar array on the roof, an MPPT charge controller, and a big inverter? Absolutely! However, the cost, tools, time, and expertise to upgrade what we have now, at least based on our current camping style is prohibitive. A portable LiFePO4...

We have a 320 W solar array on the roof, but we added a 120 W portable panel to supplement harvest in the winter when the Sun is low, the “days are shorter”, and we use the furnace (electric fan) along with more lighting. It hangs on either the side or rear of our camper when parked. HTH, Jim / crewzer This past February in Florida:
