I just wanted to say something about a product made by one of our own members, Robert Peek @Eileen and Robert Peek. Many of you may have picked up a sample pack of Peek Polish at a rally. I'm not sure how many of us have really tried it. I finally did this week, and the results were amazing.
A little background: My 2011 trailer was stored for 2 years at a facility under the flight path of John Wayne airport. It was covered pretty well with jet fuel residue. It was also parked between two old asphalt hauler trucks with no flapper valves on their stacks that sprayed diesel and oil every time they fired up. I mistakenly tried to clean the front of my trailer with bug and tar remover. I actually removed the gloss coat on the Filon. Nothing I tried ever brought it back.
We finally had some cool, overcast days here in Southern California where I could try again to restore some shine to the front of the trailer. Robert had used his polish on a small spot a year ago at RITV II, and that spot looked way better than the rest. I used up all the sample packs, and went on to a tube of Peek Polish that I had won at a rally. It just wipes on with some rubbing, and wipes of with a clean cloth. I used a microfiber towel to clean it off. That's it! No hard rubbing, no dried wax to get off, nothing. It just worked! The front of my trailer looks as good as the sides, which are near perfect. I put a coat of Maguire's spray on wax on it to keep it shiny, and it really looks good.
A professional detailer was working on a Class A nearby, and could not believe what I had accomplished in so little time, and without power tools. He tried a little of my Peek Polish on the rig he was working on and was amazed. He wants to buy it by the gallon. It really did take the heat discoloration off of chrome exhaust tips.
