------ original posting below

The 5th annual SPRING THAW CAMPOUT AND GATHERING will take place May 17-21, 2023 at Blackhawk Park, West Loop, De Soto, WI.

Noela and Dave have graciously allowed Spring Thaw #5 to move north for 2023!

Join us for a weekend of camping, campfires, pot lucks and visiting new and old friends.

We will be in the West Loop of Blackhawk Park, sites 40-73.

If these sites fill up, the Upper Loop (sites 1-39) has electric, and there are several large non-electric camping areas.

No campsites have been set aside for this event. It is up to attendees to choose and reserve a site on their own. Reservations open 6 months in advance.
This is a Corps of Engineers park (COE), so your America the Beautiful or another Federal pass is good for a 50% discount on camping.

The link for reservations is:

The park is 3 mi. north of De Soto, WI, 25 mi. south of La Crosse, WI.
Physical address: E590 Blacktop Rd, De Soto, WI 54624

Spring Thaw 2023 is heading to Iowa!

Due to major flooding at Blackhawk Park, our original plans are underwater. But thanks to some timely help from @KS Farm Girl, we've got an alternate location lined up. Let the adventure begin!

Same dates - May 17-21, 2023 but now at Sugar Bottom Campground, near Cedar Rapids, IA.

We had to cancel the riverboat tour, but all the rest of the fun is cued up and ready to go! Potluck! Cowboy breakfast! Pickleball! And whatever else you can think of!

Here's the Coralville Lake Visitors Guide. There is a lot to see and do in the area.

This is a COE park, so the usual half price discounts apply.

Your Trailmasters are in sites 139,141 and 147. There are plenty of available sites in this part of the CG.

If you are rebooking using a senior pass, be sure to cancel the Blackhawk reservation first, otherwise the system won't allow a 2nd discount for the same time frame.

What do we do now?

Hi folks,  our plans have changed and we will no longer be able to attend the Rally at Blackhawk Park.  Reservations are for Thursday 5/18 - Sunday 5/21.

We have site 53 reserved, should I just cancel?   Or if someone wants to take this reservation I can coordinate if you will private message me.

Hopefully the Mississippi River will cooperate and the park won't be flooded, lots of water up here headed south.

Hi all! We were thinking about possibly spending more time in the area. Making it a real vacation.  Does anyone know what there is to do in the area? Would there be enough to keep us busy for another week?

Just google attractions for the area, that should tell you...I do know that the places I visited in Wisconsin was beautiful in the fall of the year, this was near lake Superior.
